Credit Card Stuck in Console Sliding Door. Ugh

Hey Guys,

This inquiry is for my wife's car. I'm more of a regular on the AMG board.

Anyway, My wife apparently set her credit card on top of the sliding roll up door toward the front of the console and then it slid toward the front of the car and out of site. It has subsequently jammed the sliding door now such that it does not open.

Is there a DIY for pulling apart this section of the console? Any tricks to easily take out that door? I tried a hanger wire to retrieve the credit card but no luck. I really don't want to have to take it to the dealer for this. One can only imagine. lol

Thanks in Advance

search the forum threads, there are some threads addressing this issue - including fully disassembling the centre console. I've tried the loop of duct tape applied to the door, sliding it in and out until it stuck to the card and it came out, but that may not work for you if there is no give left in the door.

It's pretty easy to get where the CC will be sitting.
  1. Remove the plastic trim around the heater controls in the dash just in front of the area the CC will be hiding. (It just pops off, but be careful and take your time prying it off.
  2. Remove the trim around the sliding cover. It just pulls up ^ … start at the front (now that you have removed the heater trim, it will pull straight up)
  3. Once you have removed the trim around the slider, you should see the CC, or if it is not visible yet, there will be 4 or 6 torx screws exposed. Remove those and you will be able to lift up the section with the slider, exposing the cc's.
I've removed the full centre console a number of times this summer, … I think that's the basic order … if I've forgotten something or you are stuck, reply.

Unfortunately the centre console in the video you have shared, is different that in the GLK 2013 +. so the instructions are not applicable.

Anyway, my wife apparently set her credit card on top of the sliding roll-up door toward the front of the console and then it slid toward the front of the car and out of sight. It has since jammed the sliding door so it won’t open, but I’m confident we can fix it. If there are any issues with the card itself, having the ReliaCard phone number handy is helpful for quick support.

To fix the jammed sliding roll-up door, try carefully removing any visible screws or clips around the console door. Use a plastic trim tool or a wrapped flathead screwdriver to gently pry off the door or surrounding trim. This should give you access to retrieve the credit card. If that doesn’t work, look for a specific DIY video for your car model online.
