all- the service manual doesn't have any info on this but does anyone know the fluid capacity and at what mileage this unit is supposed to be changed? This is for the RWD model

Would you believe M-B does not specify a rear axle oil change interval for the GLK?

https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevol...uchbegriff=204

MB spec 235.61 75W-140

Fill capacity from 0.95 liters to 1.35 liters depending on your VIN. What is your VIN?

On my AWD, it was almost exactly a quart maybe a tad more - so I would get 2 quarts.
I would definitely recommend changing the fluid. It wasn't pretty after 90k miles. I will probably do diffs when doing transmission going forward.

I just look at my 2015 GLK 350 rear diff and it doesn't have the high/low fill/drain bolts that you all have. Trying to find the details on how to do the rear diff fluid change.

Not handy, but I found a rear diff on ebay for a 2010 X204 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-MERCED...QAAOSwnhdd1yb6) that is just like mine. Bolts are forward of each axle and low.

On some you fill it from the drain hole by pumping it back in, such a stupid pain in the *** design

How does one "fill" when the drain hole is the lowest point? Are we talking about jacking one side of the GLK up and tossing in a quart + in there?

This picture has both drain and fill holes.

This applies to front diff. You fill up the same way as transmission using the same screw-in attachment and pumping in about 0.6L maybe a bit more, then quickly unscrew the attachment and put the drain plug back in. There is a bit of spillage you have to account for but this is the easiest way.

Drain on passenger side, fill on driver side in these pics.

Here is what the plug looks like

I definitely understand the transmission process because it has the internal tube off the drain, but these suckers are just drains. I'm going to attempt the one side lift method and put in 0.6L.

Thanks for confirming. I was pretty disappointed when I didn't see a high fill and low drain bolt like in the YouTube videos.

Rear diff takes more than 0.6L it takes a tad over 1L at least on 2010 GLK and 2014 E. You might want to measure how much comes out to confirm. Snap pics before you start tilting stuff.

Perfect. I thought it was 1.2L or 1.3L and I'll definitely measure.
