Looking to add a GLK 350 4matic
Looking to add a GLK for my wife for utility purposes. She had been looking at GLAs, but we weren't very impressed, and she preferred the aesthetic of the GLK - I agree - and the higher build quality. Looking for a low mileage 2015 with full service records - oil, fluids, etc.
These vehicles all seem to be configured very closely: Premium 1, keyless, heated seats, nav...a few with lane assist/blind spot, a few with the AMG package or 20" wheels, none with the HID lights that I've found
From reading around here, seems like primary issues are transfer case failure (35k ATF fluid change), lift gate motor, seat surfaces for the leatherette.
Apart from the above, and checking wear items - tires, brakes, suspension rubber, anything else to be on the look out for?
If equipped with auto start/stop system, the auxilliary battery needs replacing likely.
Some complain of warped front rotors. Replacing with heat-treated rotors and ceramic pads helps.
On 4Matics, the front diff U-joint can come loose creating all sorts of mayhem.
The HIDs option was rare for most GLK. You can retrofit replicas but not without some coding. I'd keep looking if good lighting is important.
I'm going to ask for an ATF change and plan to do plugs/coils when I get it home.
There's a couple items I can't figure out from the service history (thoughts?):
- "climate control service"
- "Express V6 10 30 50K"
