SOS MBrace Inoperative

I have 2013 GLK 350. Never used Mbrace. The message "SOS Mbrace Inoperative" message just started coming up on the display of my GLK.

I tried some trick of turning the lights on and switching the key back and forth but that didn't do anything. I tried pressing the SoS button and it does dial Verizon, but basically plays a message that there is no activated service. Any way to get rid of the message? It comes up every time I start the car. I don't want to pay the dealer, since this is just an annoyance and my car is out of warranty.

I think that message means the mbrace unit has failed and that is being picked up during the self test at startup. Setting mbrace to “not present” should eliminate the message but Xentry is needed to do that. There was a back door way on older cars, but that doesn’t work now. It’s a 10 minute job, but don’t know what the dealer would charge. Try an indie MB repair shop or just keep hitting the OK button on starts.

anyone know where the module is located? Was wondering if I could remove it or unplug/plug it back in?

On my 2015 it was located in the rear storage compartment where the collapsible spare is. It was mounted on the structure in the forward part of the compartment. It had a large multi pin connector on it. I don't have the car anymore so I can't get a picture of it to send.

Still having this issue. I wonder if this is due to AT&T and/or Verizon discontinuing 3g service in my area?

I had posted the question in a different thread about what happens with our vehicles when 3G gets dropped this year... You might have found the answer...
