Motor oil
Gas or Deisel ,coolant and Head temp design determine operating temperature
. It’s bad for oil to run cold or not reach operating temperature for at least 15 minutes . I’m sure there is a lot about this on YouTube . The point is oil life is really about temperature. Which No moron talks about
Short-tripping any car is bad, but you're not going to convince everyone to change their ways.
That's why modern oils are designed to handle such conditions and they will resist degradation, to a point. Getting the car out on the highway once in awhile and up to operating temp ensures that the oil heats up sufficiently to boil off any water that may accumulate as condensation. This helps prevent corrosion, oxidation and other bad things.
As long as you use the appropriate oil for your engine, at the correct level, and you wind it up on the highway at least once a week, the engine should be fine.
