Left low-beam lamp replacement

I replaced the right low-beam lamp in my GLK 50 about a year ago. It wasn't particularly easy, but I got it done. When the car started
whining at me that the left low-beam lamp had failed, I figured the job would be the same. Well, not. Access to the left side is restricted
by some plumbing and some sort of diaphragm, making it very difficult to get my hand into the headlight module (the ~3 inch opening).
After some struggles, I managed to replace the lamp and like last time, by feel. The back of my left hand swelled up a bit from the
abuse of rubbing on those plumbing parts.

I don't want to do this again, but at least I figured it out while saving probably some big bucks by going to my auto servicer.

The pain free way to do it is to remove the left front wheel and fender liner. Then it is right in front of your face in plain view. Still a crazy amount of work to change a bulb.

Re: Work vs ease vs pain.

Well, now that I've replaced the both low-beam lamps once, I think I could do it in about 10 minutes next time, pain be damned. I'll just numb the pain with a little Chardonnay while watching the next guy labor through the wheel well. Heh!

The guy working through the wheel well will knock back at least a 6 pack during his ordeal.

I wouldn't be surprised, although he might have a problem getting the lamp key oriented correctly after beer 6. LOL!

Headlight sockets have to be one of the dumbest engineering designs of the modern day car; they must have drank a case and done shots while coming up with the designs.
