2015 GLK 250 oil leak or sloppy mechanic?

I brought my new used GLK 250 into the local dealer to have it given a once over by someone else beside me. The only thing that was pointed out that I didn't catch is a comment from the tech saying "oil was pooled in the valley of the engine." When I asked for more specifics they said it could have been spilled or it could be a leak.

Has anyone else ever had an oil leak at the top of the engine that pooled in the center?

2015 GLK 250 BlueTec with AMG Sport package.
The only place it could pool on GLK250 is around the oil filling cap and in the injector cavities, maybe along the valve cover IF it was spilled. Maybe above the water pump a little?

PCV vent could be blowing off some oil? It's a round mushroom looking thing integrated into the valve cover but it's closer to the firewall rather than center

@dzl_benz Yeah, I am thinking this was a sloppy mechanic, in my head I couldn't figure out what would be leaking at the top of the engine... The PCV valve should have been obvious to the mechanic if that was spewing oil.. Then again, I might be giving him/her too much credit..

Clean it up and see if it comes back. Probably someone was adding oil and missed...

I’m not sure if I see a the crack, does it leak? Did you have a washer on it? Try it with a new crush washer

My guess is you're answering to the rwong thread.

Looking for the "oil pan replacement" thread (where there IS obviously a crack) ??
If yes, it's not here, in this inactive thread from a year ago

That’s weird, I was responding to the overtorqued split oil pan

My browser doesn't show it, but, apparently some browsers show "related threads" at the end of the one you're reading in a way where it is easy to just scroll into a different thread without realizing it.
