signs of blower motor failure: fluttering?

2013 GLK250:

I've notice intermittent fluttering sound coming from the far right passenger air vent. Sounds like a leaf or piece of paper fluttering. happens without AC (just heat) and also at idle, cabin filter was replaced 3 months ago

Before I start ripping stuff out, is this sound also a sign of blower motor failure? Its probably easier to DIY replace the blower motor than to poke around for a leaf/obstruction.

Remember that there's only one fan motor; if there's a problem with it, the sound should be from *all* vents, not just one. Try shining a light into the vent to see if you can see anything loose.
You might also try an inspection camera to look in the vent/duct e.g.

Price is in $CDN.

I have I believe a similar sound occurring. Makes me think of a thin piece of aluminum trim flexing or shifting back-and-forth in some way. Seems to happen when it’s cold, and the cabin is warming up. Mine is coming from two or three different places around the cabin including the right side of the dash and my drivers door panel. No idea what it is.

So, your statement suggests you don't hear the fluttering when running the A/C ??

What happens when you adjust the fan speed - does the noise increase as fan speed is increased, and vice versa??

And what happens when you close that particular vent?

I had a slight fluttering sound issue, only on low fan speeds, pretty soon after replacing the cabin filter. Ended up taking the cabin filter out and reseating, apparently it was slightly off.

Noise has stopped since.

Still occurs with AC and on higher fan speeds and if i twist the vent. I think i'll try out andreigbs's suggestion of reseating the cabin filter which I DIY'd few months earlier. Someone also suggested to check the battery cover (which has some kind of inlet) which I also DIY'd last year
