Why is this happening?
My 15 GLK is parked in the garage for a couple of hours. I walk by the car and hear a soft low hum. A close inspection finds the blower fan near the passenger side windshield operating while the car is off. I open the door it turns off. I close the door it turns on. This happens over and over and again. Other times, I walk by the car and there is no blower humming.
i attached a photo of the mystery hum location.
MBWorld experts I ask for your wisdom to this mystery and tell me if it will affect the battery and/or climate system. Thanks
climate control system?

I believe the prevention of mold to be the most logical reason. Because, when the driver’s door opens it tells the blower the vehicle is about to become active and turns off. Allowing the climate system to take over with whatever the driver decides-heat, a/c, defrost, etc. But if the door opens and closes with no action to the car, it returns to the task of blowing air until it is satisfied. If this is the reason, then kudos to the MB engineers for removing moldy smells.
Next, I’d like to know if this car has such a system and how it works. Google?

I've never been curious enough to investigate, as it seems to be routine.
I've also heard mild clicking noises, like something related to the security system, ie, mild door lock noises, which I also never investigated. Occasionally, I notice the rear doors are locked - maybe the "child lock" system is engaged.

After owning 2 Benzes at a time for a couple of decades, and parking them in the garage, I have learned to ignore the clicks, buzzes, fans blowing, and other noises that they make before going to sleep. If any of those things impact the battery, the quiescent current relay makes sure there is still sufficient charge to start the vehicle.
That blower running was a thing all the way back to 2003 or earlier. My W204 had an electric auxiliary water pump that would come on after the car was shut down to ensure that the hot engine cooled properly. I didn’t know it was there until it began to get exceptionally noisy. The GLK is an X204, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it had one, too.
