2013 GLK350 Multifunction Display UP/DOWN button malfunction

I have a 2013 GLK350, and recently the Multifunction Display in the speedometer dial will not display submenus. Only the major headings. The Left/Right control buttons on the steering wheel button works to cycle thru the different main menus (Trip/NAVI/Audio/Tel/DriveAssist/Serv/Sett) .... but the Up/Down button will not go thru the submenus under each of the menu headings. I have checked my batteries ... and both my main battery and auxiliary batteries are fully charged. Any idea of how reset the multifunction computer ... or other ideas? This is a very strange occurrence. Never happened before.

Thanks.

For fun and no profit, plus slightly bored, I grabbed the key to 2014 GLK350 Base, and went out to garage and tried some of the other buttons to see if they offered an "optional way" to select the submenus, but no luck.

Have you shifted the tilt steering up down to a different position to see if that works? Or maybe rotate the steering wheel 180° one way or the other, for a response?

My initial thought is switch failure (underneath where the buttons are), but for both up down to fail, but not left right (?) Prob not, but who knows, cause electrical devices do weird things).

Thanks. I will try tilting/moving the steering wheel in/out. I also was thinking about the switch failure as well, but since the Left/Righ buttons work ... i also thought the UP/DOWN should work ... and all 4 are the same electrical connection. But .. ya never know. Maybe next stop will have to be the dealership.

Yep, tried moving/tilting the steering wheel. No change.

I watched two videos - both related to removing the steering wheel trim (what the buttons are attached to). One video is 30 minutes long because the guy talks about 15 other things besides what he's working on (it's for a GLK350).

The video below is for a c300, but the steering wheels are exactly the same and the procedure is exactly the same (and you won't have to suffer thru 30 minutes). Looks pretty easy and goes quick.

Might be a DIY option for ya - just replace the switch module.
