Help - Custom Tail Lights on '10 GLK

Hi!

I recently purchased custom tail lights on Aliexpress for my 2010 GLK. They arrived today.

I have an issue. The brake lights function as the turn signal, while the turn signal functions as the brake light (see attached video). Clearly, it is supposed to be the other way around. A resistor was included and was plugged in during the test.
I did see a thread about retrofitting facelift tail lights on a pre-facelift that involved repinning of wires. Could that be necessary in this case?
I do not know if anyone might have a solution, but any help is appreciated.

If your brake lights are functioning as the turn signal, and your turn signal is functioning as the brake light it's safe to assume you need to swap those around in the harness.
Very easy to do with a SIM card removal tool.

Off-topic, but I just have to ask... angryartichoke, is your vehicle a GLK 350, or a GL300, or a model I've never heard of (but would like to!), or maybe it's got a transplanted GL engine? ;-)

Or was that a typo?

Never mind - just saw another post in which you said "I M273 swapped mine". Answers THAT question, though per 'net rules, "if there ain't pictures, it didn't happen". ;-)

Do you by any chance have a video on how to swap those wires around? I do have a SIM ejector tool around, but I am scared to mess anything up.

Is it possible you bought the taillight setup for Europe or other parts of the world? For most markets there are dedicated amber turn signals at the rear. The U.S. and Canada have an odd fixation with keeping the brake lights and turn signals, on most cars, the same color - red. Just a complete lack of common sense.

Might consider asking a friend who's versed in wiring or has confidence in the general procedure.

The 2010 - 2012 GLKs w/o the lighting package have amber rear turn signals.

I have done some messing around on my own, and I have discovered that I am, in fact, required to swap the brake and signal wires around in the harness. It takes a little bit of patience, but it is not *so* hard to do, thankfully.
