2014 Keyless Go issue

I'm new to this forum and would appreciate any help regarding a Keyless go problem. I've done a search on the forum but can't find an answer. I bought a used 2014 GLK350, the previous owner said he never tried the Keyless Go but when I tried it I got the "Insert key" message and it wouldn't start. I have replace the batteries in both fobs with CR2025, tried a new push button, replace the auxiliary battery (it went bad anyway), blew out the key hole with compressed air in a can and still nothing. The fob unlocks all the doors and starts the car when inserted, but no luck with the push button. Is there a possibility it's a module or antenna?
Thanks

Do the car doors both lock and unlock without the key? Did you not notice the push button start did not work on your tst drive?

All the doors lock and unlock with the fob, doesn't do any sort of proximity unlock if that's what you're referring to. Unfortunately we didn't try the push start button on the test drive, and since this was our first Mercedes I wasn't familiar with the Keyless go push button. The owner (2nd owner) did say that he had never tried it though.
Thanks

If you do not have the proximity lock and unlock you probably do not have push button start as an option. Sorry.

I don't have keyless go on the GLK, but on the GLS you have to pull the door handle as if you were trying to open the door (you are!) to get it to unlock. You also have to touch the outer face of the handle to lock; it's proximity enabled, but not actuated. The key must be near but outside to lock or unlock.

Check the build sheet for code 889.

The outer face has a small rectangle that I normally just swipe with the back of of hand to lock the car. To unlock I just have to touch the inside of the handle with no pressure at all . Wait a fraction of second and then pull to open.

The hatch has to be opened but the switch at the back if the key is close by. Would like the foot swipe that other cars have,, but those owners complain about it.

My understanding the little square on the door handle is the IR target for the "windows up" function. Point the fob at the square and hold the lock button down and all the windows go up. Press and hold unlock and they all go down. (You don't need keyless go to have this feature.)

Ooops you are right I just swipe my back of hand across the IR and the door locks, I guess it is all the door handle that is sensitive.

The build sheet, also referred to as the data card, that @John CC mentions can be obtained by going to

lastvin.com

and entering your VIN.

If you have keyless go, your trunk will have 2 buttons: one to close and one to close AND lock. Otherwise you'll just have one button = no keyless go, no push button start capability.
