GLK250 AEM DPF repair. How long have you gone without a problem?
Hey guys. I've had my GLK250 since 2016 and have loved it other than the original DPF system issues. I had the AEM done, I believe, 2-years ago and have not had any issues.
I'm wondering if you've had the need to have the dealer clean the DPF, replace soot sensor, or NOX sensors? I ask this as my brother that has a fleet of trucks has never had to have his DPF's ever cleaned or replaced and no issues other than "fill with DEF." I'm wondering if the AEM that was performed is a very stout, long term fix. Can we get a roll call on how long the fix has been problem free for you and or what parts you've replaced?
I have a 2013 GLK250 that I bought with 30k on it (certified preowned at dealer). I currently have 104k miles on the car and I'm deciding if I should replace it but I have a deep bond with the car.
Thanks all, please share your thoughts or current situation.
Thanks for the reply. I believe my warranty expired (the new extended one) since it was capped by mileage. Can you remind me what the terms of the warranty were? What year is your GLK?
I think the warranty is "the greater of 4 years/48,000 miles from the date of installation of the Emission Modification or 10 years/120,000 miles from the initial sale date of the vehicle. This extended warranty remains with the vehicle and is fully transferable to subsequent owners until expiration."
I take that to mean whichever of the two is the more generous option, the greater time/miles extension is what would apply. Ours is a 2014.
The AEM was performed on mine in March of 2021. The car sat on a dealer's lot until I bought it in July. Since then I've put about 20,000 miles on it and had zero issues, except one little thing. In the glove box is a stainless steel bracket that apparently holds the two DPF pressure sense lines to the outside of the DPF, on their way to the differential pressure sensor. As far as I can tell, I would have to drop the exhaust to get to it and replace it. My extended warranty will run out at the end of March, 2025. Fingers crossed after that.
