Hi all,
Looking at buying a 2015 GLK. Unsure of if it will be a 250 or 350. Dealership has 3 2015 models all white but all were configured slightly differently.
I am new to Mercedes and been a BMW, Audi owner prior to this purchase so I am wondering if there are a few options that you could not live without in your Benz so I can look out for them.

My needs so far are the Xenon lighting package, ambient lighting, panoramic roof, navigation and AMG package.

The vehicle I am leaning towards doesnt have the HK sound system and Im wondering if the tradeoff is worth living without

 

So, you didn't follow thru with the 2009?

 

I was gonna buy a brand new c350 back in 2009 but had like a 6 month wait for it to come and needed a car within the month. Ended up buying a used Boxster instead. Almost bought a few R350's but those also didnt pan out

 

If you've never had a diesel, stick to the 350.

And if you don't absolutely need AWD, stick to the non-4Matic models. This will ensure you experience the least amount of trouble going forward.

Also, GLKs are now 10 yrs old on average, with many parts ready for a refresh. You should plan on dropping another couple extra thousand to replace those worn parts if/when you find a GLK that meets your criteria. The vast majority of GLKs did not come with the "Intelligent Lighting" package with HIDs, even if many did come with the AMG sport package. It will be difficult to find one that has all of the things you want and is also in decent shape, and also fits in your budget.

The options I would look for are the one that has the new transmission fluid and filter , and brake and cooling system flush. Just the transmission is about 5-750$, 1000$ all 3. I’d try to look and see if sludge has formed from neglecting oil changes . I just replaced front and rear suspension at 80,000 miles. You need proof of maintenance, not somebody’s good honest word 😅

 

Get eyes on the bottom coils of the rear springs. Both of mine were broken before 90,000 miles.

Mine's just a vehicle; options are not that important to me, although a backup camera would be nice.

i am quite content with the options in the vehicle. I was hoping for the harmon kardon as i love my car audio but can live without it

The car was a used trade in. I checked the car and there were a few silly records like parking tickets but nothing with maintenence.

ill call mercedes and cross my fingers it’s had the diesel warranty done and any fluid flush. Thank you all dearly

Dude you are a legend, Thank you for the link. I will now move forward and inspect the rear coil springs as you mentioned earlier. Seems very common on German vehicles as many of my 3 series bmw and a4 have had cracked rears over the years
