Glk 250 wing mirror glass

Hello, our driver’s side with autodimming is broken. Does anyone know if non dimming glass as in the passenger side wing mirror is the same size. There is about a $400 difference in the part if we have to get the auto dimming and not sure we need it and honestly not sure what it does. 10 yr old car with 48K miiles belonging to seniors who only drive a few blocks if at all at night. Thanks.
P.S. Son who would do the repair has asked the dealership in effect if the glass size is the same before he buys it but no reply as yet.

Size of the glass mirror is the same. Auto-dimming is particularly helpful at night with drivers behind you sometimes blinding you via your own mirrors. If you don't do much driving at night, then you may not need auto dim. Make sure the part you buy is at least heated, as the OE part is both auto heated and dimming.

Edit: here's a link for replacement parts. If your car has blind spot alert, you'll need the more expensive mirror or you will have error codes. I would go with the $500 replacement and retain OEM functions.

I just went to "mbparts.mbusa.com" and checked our 2014 GLK Base. They have the left glass in a range of prices (due to features).

One thing to keep in mind - the shape is aspherically curved, so the right might not work, unless you flip it and then the mirror side will be pointing ahead. (But models are different).

Why not just go to mbparts, enter the GLK specs, then go to the "mirrors" section. You can even specify your nearest dealer, to see what's in stock.

Yikes:
damn... at those kinds of prices I would be looking to maybe buy from an online junkyard.

Surprisingly, I see a left glass at our dealership for $104 USD. Then, the other versions skyrocket in price. Obviously, one can copy the official MB part number and do a Net search for used ones, etc.

And to put my previous Reply into visual perspective (for our model GLK) I snapped a photo. Notice the glass is not a parallel rectangular shape. The right side of the glass is taller compared to the left.

Other years / models may have a parallel rectangular shape, so could be swapped.
