2014 GLK350 Command/Head-Unit Part Compat

I have a 2014 GLK. The headunit/command is dead. checked the fuses, and have tried the reset. All it will do is the "on" button flashes.

I am trying to source a replacement to swap into my vehicle, then have programed. I pulled mine out to get the exact part number.

A 204 900 56 14

I have the option for heated seats, and i also have the "sport/eco" and the engine start stop.

Do I NEED the exact same part number, or will another part number work and successfully program.

OR is there anywhere I can send it to to be refurbished at reasonable cost.

204-900-18-15-80 is listed as the rebuilt replacement. Drop the 80 at the end and 204-900-18-15 from a salvage should also be compatible. That part is listed as also replacing 204-900-28-14 and 204-900-81-14, but I would not buy one of those without a return guarantee because of cross-compatibility concerns.

Thank- you. The exact part number seems hard to find on ebay.

Try to get an estimate for repair (if possible) and a time line . You don’t want to spend hundreds and not have it for a months . I would contact eBay sellers and get a guaranteed unit and try it, Programming ? Is that necessary? Ask the eBay people , that would be expensive I think . I think any unit of that year group would work. Ask eBay sellers .

You might peruse eBay - that's where I found my "exact" part number head unit. It did take a while to find it though - there were a couple (very, very pricey) options from Germany (IIRC) but my basic radio still worked so I just waited (I think it set me back around $200). Try putting in the part number with and without the spaces, and remember there are really multiple part numbers on the unit, so search on those as well.

Even with the same part number, there are likely to be differences in the programming. The good news is, that's easily corrected via the "secret engineering menu" (once you get the new unit in, anyway).

You already have the part number, but here's a video showing how to get it without removing the head unit (as long as the screen works, that is...), and some ideas about finding a "new" used unit (and of course, the actual swap).

This has the same part number but the label looks different. The front looks the same. What do you think about compatibility?

The link you sent lists the part as 204-900-27-14. I don’t see anywhere in the pictures that it’s been removed showing the label. Your 204-900-56-14 shows that it’s high end unit. You wouldn’t want this one to be a mid level unit because you might lose some functionality. Can you ask the seller for a picture of the top of the unit with the label?

Does your original unit have the same connector configuration as the one on eBay? The NTG 4.7 head units have a different number and placement of connectors. I mention this because both my 2013 C Class and my 2015 GLK 350 had NTG 4.7 units. If this one is the same as the original in your GLK, I would expect them to be compatible.

It looks like the seller allows 30 day return if something doesn't work, but you'll have to pay return shipping.

Hello, i have the exact same issue with the same head unit model number and same symptoms. Did you ever get this fixed? If so I would love an explanation on what worked for you. Many thanks.
