Differential Oil great price.

Just about to do my diff fluid and noticed the oil is crazy expensive. 70US, or 110CAN a bottle and you need 2 to do the job.
Came across a site that has them on clearance for 18$, 10$ for shipping will hop across the border to pick up.
Great deal if anyone wants to stock up...

Must be an oil salesman . And who knows how good oil it is. No way is gear lube 70-100$, and for something most never change and I don’t think the Glk mentions changing , I would use the best synthetic I can get, not the cheapest .

lol well if you actually want the proper oil and you look up the car spec there are only 4 approved oils. Spec 235.7.

this is literally the best oil you can get.

https://operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/sheet/235.7

Price at Mercedes 70us/110can

Yep. MB 75W 85 is $64.99 at FCP Euro. At that price I would be tempted to go off the sheet and just run 75W 90 Mobil 1 for $15.49 from Amazon. However, there are 75W-85 GL-5 oils out there. Redline @ FCP Euro $23.59 and others in auto company bottles for ~$32. The Fuchs Sintopoid is listed at a few places for ~$43.

Yeah I was trying to get the Fuchs in Canada and just could not find it in stock anywhere or available at all. Found some on eBay and idparts but with shipping was around 100US for 2 bottles. This ended up being like 50$ and it’s the OEM fluid.

I did call Fuchs directly and they said they could sell a case of 6 only.

It seems of the 4 listed fluids that meet this particular spec, the only one readily available in Canada is the MB fluid which, from my dealer, comes in at 101$+tax per liter Canadian with a 3-4 week lead time because they will only ground ship fluids.
That's 233$ and a month to do a diff fluid swap. I also tried to call Fuchs Canada as their website distributor locator is broken, but never got an answer.
Depending on the price of the case of 6 I may just do that, I can't see it being any more expensive than MB fluid except I will get three diff fluid changes out of it, or at least have it on hand if a friend needs some.

I am also looking for Fuchs Titan 9134 ATF because 52$/L for trans fluid is also absolutely mental when you need 8/9L of it and then the filters are part of the pan assembly which from the dealer is $516 WITHOUT the level guide tube (which could be reused).
Overall, for a trans flush in Canada (at least where I am in Newfoundland) to do it yourself with no labour cost you're looking at around 1100$ plus tax and shipping directly from MB. I will be searching for ATF instead as there are quite a few listed on BeVo as approved and I expect to pay between 13 and 20/L so I'm thinking my final price will come in somewhere around $500...

I dread the thought of someone having to get these things done at the dealer.
Also, I understand you want the "best" fluid for the vehicle, as do I. There are a lot of fluids that claim to meet the MB standards, but if you're on the BeVo and they are actually Mercedes Approved, to me that is a top quality fluid.

And I know it was mentioned that some vehicles don't have a recommendation on changing the diff fluid, but the only things that last a lifetime are honey, stress, and taxes... Diff fluid isn't one of them.

If anybody has any leads on Diff fluid or ATF in Canada that would be great.

I shipped mine to an address across the border picked it up last week, no duty charged. Ended up costing me about 72$ Canadian. I might do the tranny fluid 6 months and will check that site again as the sale prices are ridiculously low.
Last time I got the proper spec tranny fluid maybe from NAPA i forget but it was the 5L Jugs and I got two. I think i paid 120 for both.

IMO - the reason "spec" gear oils are rare, and expensive, is because 75W85 is relatively rare. The 85 wt is for fuel economy, and more commonly, 90 wt is available. 90 wt offers higher temp protection.
A high quality synthetic hypoid gear oil at 75W90 is fine too. Castrol Syntrax, Mobil 1, Redline, etc. So long as GL-5.

The Febi brand fluid is the same fluid I used for the front and rear diff in my W204. Its on the approved spec list and even has it printed on the label. I found it at IDparts which happens to be in the next town over from me so I can pick up my orders for free. When I did it the fluid was around $18/each but the price has gone up since then. 2 bottles was plenty, something like 1.1 quarts for the rear and the front was around .7 quarts.

Redline makes 75w85 GL5 for these cars, but I do not think it has a MB approval. Not sure if the approval matters really...

Jusy FYI, that febi bottle isn't approved anymore for any of those specs. The Fuchs is on some of those approvals.

Odd. I looked on the Febi website and the spec is still listed. The bottle I have has the spec number on it though it is a few years old. I'd use it again if the new bottles still have the spec listed. May replace the fluid again this summer just for fun.

It will be fine. Not sure why mercedes have been removing aftermarket fluids from their list.
