Birthday Benz!

Our “little girl” turned 16 today, and the GLK is officially hers. We’ve been working on this Baby Benz together, learning how cars work, and how to troubleshoot, fix and maintain. A few more things left to go such as engine and transmission mounts, brake fluid and coolant flushes/exchanges. She’s eager to help and learn, so I’ve at least done a couple of things right as her father. She also knows the words to countless 60’s, 70’s and 80’s rock songs…that’s the other thing I’ve done right.

Great present, was thinking of handing it off to my daughter in the near future. She cant legally drive yet, but she has practiced in empty parking lots, she actually prefers my F150. In case you haven’t checked make sure that airbag recall was completed.

Good call on the airbags. I tried to verify a little while ago based on VIN, but got nowhere. I’ll call the nearest dealership and have them look it up.
I drive a Toyota truck as my daily driver, and my daughter has no interest in getting behind the wheel. She really likes the size, agility and visibility of the GLK. She can’t get her license until middle of August because thats just how they operate in Indiana. 16 years old plus 3 months.

Good on you. My 16 yo has shown zero interest in driving so maybe I'm lucky? She did find herself a job so that's a good start. I'd be fine with teaching her to drive my CLS, F150 or my wifes Pilot. I'd like to get a modern Honda for her, and then pass down to the next in line but we'll see.
Also, good job on the music exposure!

Our daughter got a hand-me-down Subaru Outback for her 16th birthday. She was over the moon about that car. The best first car for a kid is something not too fast and built like a tank. It will get crashed.

It’s true, and a solid argument for the GLK. Well built, nimble, safe, strong drivetrain, AWD, and when it gets a dent or scratch, I won’t be happy, but I won’t be too upset. My daughter really enjoys driving it, and so do I. I kind of wish I could keep it for myself
