Question GLK 2010 Audio upgrade

Hi all!

I'm the proud owner of this 2010 GLK 220CDI. I've been upgrading/building cars for years now. This GLK is my daily driver and I love it!

My question is... I've been reading for some hours almost everywhere for this but can't seem to find the right choice. I want to upgrade the audio of this GLK. I'm having the system with the small screen and the AUX jack-port.

At the moment I'm using a bluetooth/FM-transmitter adapter to stream Spotify, it works but the audio quality is poor. The volume is very low and a lot of tones ranges are missing.

I also tried a bluetooth adapter directly into the aux-port, put I then only seemed to get the right side of the speakers working so I think maybe the aux-port is faulty.

Do you have any experience in upgrading the early GLK audio systems? I've seen the Chinese Android systems on Aliexpress but it seems these systems use the aux-port to connect the audio to the speakers, so in my case, that will deliver the same problem that I have, and besides that I think it will still deliver poort sound quality?

Any ideas/experiences with solutions/systems that do really give an upgrade in streaming quality sound?

Plug an audio source into the aux to see if the Bluetooth adaptor is good . There are connections in back of unit that you can plug anything into on a 13 , I would think the connections on yours are the same . Call or talk to a few audio shops , that’s what I did. I had a Audison bit 8,9 put in with new speakers and sub. You can upgrade it any way you want but I think you need a pro to direct you . By sound source I mean plug in a phone to the aux. or upgrade to a newer year , my 13 has good Bluetooth, but I don’t know if you need an external module . eBay has alot of sellers that might direct you right.

I've got the Harmon Kardon and larger command screen but I personally just use a Bluetooth to FM transmitter plugged into the power source in the glove box. The new ones have come a long way and it honestly sounds great with zero static.

The better option is probably a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the MMI. Those are a little more expensive though.

Thanks for you replies. I unfortunately have not the best soundquality with the bluetooth-fm-transmitter. I'm going to search for a BT adapter that I can plug into the MMI. Does anyone have any experience with this or now which adapter will fit into my MMI (small screen, I think NTG4?)?
