I'm just telling you what I know from MB corporate, MB manager here and MB regional manager-- the earliest they have a GLS on the road is early May.
trust me I wish it would be sooner - we have two on order in the family and def need them delivered sooner but have been told no can do until it is officially released in the end of April-
I was told it may be built and readt but cannot be released--
I hope they can do it sooner too.. I'm not posting what I think is going on - just posting what I have been informed..

I cannot see MB continuing to ship to dealers with a potential pending issue though. What if they'll be required to make adjustments? All of those vehicles sitting at the dealer may need to be shipped back? I'd rather they sit at Vance until the issue is resolved.

Here in the US - vehciles are held at VPC/Vance or regional VPC's - until official release - they are not shipped to dealers to be held at dealer - held at VPC

A MBUSA employee at Chicago Auto Show (not just a fluffer) told me March is shot and June is when GLS will hit lots. In Chicago they had GLS63 and GLS550 - locked while everything else was open. My local dealer told me they have a few 450's at VPC but they will not be released. Additionally, they have not rec'd a timeline from MB on when they will be released. Consistency from two separate parties has led me to believe it will be June before they hit the lots in the Midwest region at least. No wonder pricing and config is still not loaded...unfortunately.

This is cut and paste of what my salesperson told me yesterday about my GLS450
FYI - We were sent a letter from head office.... to give you a bit of it..
"The on-sale date for the MY17 GLS 350d 4MATIC has been delayed until late-Spring/early-Summer. The on sale date for the gasoline variants, however, is still expected in early April."

i hope so too-- and thats what I asked when I was given the info.. but I was told GLS launch pushed to end of April.. making it seem like it will be for all models
I hope for those getting built early enough those are delivered as soon as official launch..
weird that EU sites have the configurator up and we still dont

Remember the GLS is a new model. It may be already available for sale in the EU even though has not launched in the US. MB needs approval to sell cars here. EU cars meet different standards. This could be reason for configurator already being available.

Those configurators were up in November

Dealer here in San Diego has no knowledge of any delays. Their computer tracking still shows everything is a go. My GLS350 should be built by April 1st. Delivery should be 20 days later. We shall see, however.

you'r absolutely right- no delays at all with build and production-- both of ours as well production dates are still good..
but not deliveries
I spoke with corporate again few days ago.. launch still expected end of April but not confirmed.. hoping for no extra delays
until launch- no pricing- which means car cant leave vpc and cannot be sold without official US launch and without any pricing

I am not saying it will happen this month - but " might" happen this month
I am not saying this "will happen" - but from what I see at the moment what "might" happen is right at end-of-March every dealer will be shipped one Priority 2 unit - not customer sold - possibly with no window sticker - to be specifically held at dealer - no test drives - no nothing - until formal release date in April.
This is one scenario that helps Mercedes maximize 1st quarter unit target - again this mystery GLS would NOT be available for sale - maybe not even avail for test drive..
