GLS550 Black with Night package
Guys,
Took delivery of GLS550 Obsidian Black with night package. Will try to get a feel of Active Curve this weekend.

Yes, that's what I understood as well. Just got my GLS550 on Sunday and I haven't been able to access it. The manual leaves much to be desired as I haven't seen any info there. Then again, Mbrace hasn't been activated on it yet, either.

I haven't accessed Carplay yet! Looked up settings but couldn't find it anywhere. Will check the manual.

What I meant is that I could have done it without my dealers assistance. Check your owners manual page 121. It explains how to set up and use CarPlay.

Downside... it wont let me access Mercedes interface. I'm not sure if there's a way around to access songs in USB drive. Google Maps App in Carplay would have been nice (I know its too much to ask from Apple 
)

You can still access the MB COMAND interface while CarPlay is running. You just can't access their built-in mapping solution. Apple Maps replaces it. But you can access AM/FM/Satellite stations, Vehicle Data, etc.

Integration will get better in time, but not for our versions... Still nice to be able to use carplay though.

CarPlay definitely takes some getting used to. Especially to figure out what MB functionality goes away when using it (Navigation, Weather for example) and how to navigate to find music or operate Apple Maps. I can't say I've gotten good at it but after about two months with it I can do the basics. Siri is quite a nice feature once you learn how to ask for certain things.
The best part of CarPlay is the music as you can stream Apple Radio, Pandora, etc. without having to surf your library - which is a huge distraction when you are driving. Secondly, the sound quality is night and day compared to Sirius/XM. For some reason, the Sirius/XM receiver they put in these GLS result in terrible audio quality. I thought it was just the EQ on my phone, but when I turn the EQ off the Apple music is just as good. Before I used CarPlay or connected my iPhone, I thought the audio in the car was crap and really regretted not getting the B&O upgrade. Since I realized it is just an XM issue I think the system actually sounds great.
Anyone else have the XM sound quality issue?

Since I went with Night package, I wanted to have a black/Carbon fiber license plate frame. Any recommendations? Thanks!

That is a Beautiful Car. Mine was delivered last weekend.Its a Diamond White 550 night package with the designo Espresso Brown leather package and got the porcelain headliner. Can't believe that engine

Active curve is always active and I don't see anything in settings. But the ride is amazing, body roll is much much better than by earlier 450 and the ride is very smooth. I can see the difference driving the same roads and curves. Moreover, my wife and kid didn't throw up yet which was pretty much common every time we drove from PA to NJ
