GLS modifications
Hey y'all... just picked up a new 17 GLS last week... we bought it without seeing it or really understanding the lighting package.
ive seen the lights with the lighting package on eBay etc. does anyone know if they can be added afterward?
we plasti dipped the front chrome in matte black and will be getting that and the side mirrors permanently painted matte black... we think it makes a huge difference. We've also been looking at the amg wheels.

The lighting package cannot be added afterward. It is much more complicated than just buying the headlamps and fitting them in. It uses a camera behind the windscreen to detect traffic and adapt the lighting patterns. Plus, car needs to be reconfigured so that it knows it has the lighting package. If you look up in the ML/GLE forum, you will see many people wanted to do it, but they all ended up using some type of HID conversion kit with mixed results.

The standard lights are HORRENDOUS. First thing I did was replace the lights with HIDs. The GLS is not drive-able at night or low light conditions with the standard lights. I recommend this mod for safety reasons if for nothing else. Here's a linl to my thread detailing the mod.
