Where is the GLS 63 manufactured?
My understanding was they were made in the US. The dealer then told me all AMG's include the GLS 63 are made in Germany. The internet says they are assembled at Mercedes-Benz US International, Inc, in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. I assume that is the case for the 63 as well? I'm not particularly concerned about where they are made, more curious.
Perhaps the AMG engines are assembled in Germany and shipped to the US for installation (which is not what he was telling me though)?
I should note that I am in Australia but I would have thought they all still come from the US and not Germany.
Thanks for any info
David

Yes... Germany
The GLS63 uses the AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic tranny which is only made in Germany.
The engine/tranny are shipped to US as one "unit" and assembled into the GLS63 as one "unit"..

Thanks, makes perfect sense to me. Unfortunately I didn't have any facts to back myself up with while the dealer was telling me something different than that. I'm pretty sure I had a pretty unconvinced look on my face at the time.

I bet he was glad when you left
why not just enjoy the car rather than obsessing over every detail and trying to rebuild it. I bet the dealer loved you
