We just purchased a 2018 GLS 450 and absolutely love it. I am hoping the MB community can help me with one issue. The rear tailgate opens just fine with the key fob and has a good distance range. The problem I am having is that it’s will only close if standing directly behind the vehicle and within about 5t feet. I was told by the dealership this is “probably” a safety feature. Our previous ML350 didn’t have this safety feature. This is inconvenient when carrying boxes into the house and then not being able to close the tailgate. Is there a way to shut off this feature or bypass it so I can close the tailgate from the house. Thanks.
