Passenger Seat problems
Consequently I took the vehicle (2013 GL 350) into the dealer. They discovered the seat control module requires replacement and this part had to be ordered from Germany. As well, all of the electrical connectors (32 of them) are also burnt out and need to be replaced. We have never noticed any burning smell or anything that would indicate a problem. Everything worked one day and failed the next.
My questions: shouldn't a fuse have burnt out to prevent something like this from happening? Has anyone else had a similar incident? The vehicle has never been in an accident or had anything occur that would contribute to this type of problem I have owned it since new. It has just over 100K kms (about 63K miles) on the odometer. The vehicle is off-warranty so I will probably have to pay for the repair unless it is something that MB should cover?
Burned up connectors doesn't sound right.
A failed connector ("burned up") can result in no connection, and a fuse would not come into play. The connector may have failed at a current lower than the fuse limit, due to poor materials in the connector, or a poor/loose connection generating higher than intended temperature and premature failure in the connector. It happens.
