2019 GLS Extended Warranty and Prepaid Maintenance
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and I have just bought a 2019 GLS 450 about a week ago. We plan to keep this car long term so we opt in the extended warranty and prepaid maintenance package.
The manager is giving us great deal on the car itself since we have been with them for many years. However, I am not quite sure about the extended warranty and maintenance package that they offered.
Here's the breakdown
7yr/75000 miiles $4500
4 year maintenance package: $2300
I actually do not know that you can shop these packages at different dealership with different price until I visit this forum. Can anyone share their experiences? I might try to get some new quotes to see if I can go back and ask for refunds.
Thank you!!

NeStar is down at the moment - Mercedes has a MSRP for both the 7/74 and the 4Yr/40K maintenance plan.
Let me give you two things:
1. Your cost for the Extended Warranty will be lowest IF purchased within 30 days of original purchase (2) after 30 days MSRP for the warranty goes up 15% - (note for reference dealer cost for that warranty goes up 5%) - that MSRP increase after 30 days "should" have been explained to you at time of purchase. If financed with MBFS they could have offered to pro-rate the cost of the warranty over your MBFS loan at no added interest. If you sell/trade before reaching Extended Warranty it is 100% refundable, if you pass into Extended Warranty it is partially refundable pro-rated on miles/time (whichever more ) LESS any paid claims under that Extended Warranty.
2. Prepaid Maintenance can be purchased at any time prior to check-in for Service. In short form based on 10K mile intervals starting at 10K lays out like this A/10K-B/20K-A/30K-B+/40K- (PLUGS 45k) - A+/50K. Do not overbuy ppd maintenance as it is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to your next MB. You need to take a look at your planned ownership in miles. If you plan to keep part 40K miles - often it can be more affordable to pay A/10K out-of-pocket - then buy 30K for the B/20K-A/30K-B+/40K - as compared to cost 4/40K. After 40K - a 2/20K will MORE than pay for itself just with 45K/Plugs and the A/50K - and literally based on that savings alone you will have "free" B/60K

Thank you for the information provided! I might try to get quote from other dealership to see what they can offer. I should have checked this forum before purchasing any plans from the dealership. I do feel like I am not getting a fair price for both plans.

Prepaid maintenance price does not seem out of line.

The recommended guy on here is Jeff Jackson at Tafel motors.
But fo try any and all dealerships in your immediate dealership. Just ask for the finance dept.
the warranty is is a little high in price. Spring for the 7/100k. The extra mileage helps.

Dont bother with the 75. Go for the 100k Most issues will pop around 70-100k when they do. I also imagine you’ll be wanting to drive more than 10k a year. Average is 12-15k.
Just recentky paid 4250 for an Audi elw 10yrs warranty for a Q5.
But the mb should come a bit cheaper.

I found earlier threads with a quote of $4000 for 7yr/100k. Of course prices go up over time...

I just did my 4th year prepaid service for my 2017 GLS at 44k miles. Can I still buy the 2/20k for the next two services?
BTW, I didn't know I could shop around so I paid $1,700 for the 4 year prepaid service when I bought the car.

Hey, thanks for the thread. The info is super helpful. I just got a GLS and is shopping for EW as well as the PPM. Would you be able to share the name of the dealership where you got the best quote?

Hey guys, I am about to pick up a 2017 GLS63 (getting rid of my 2013 GL450) that has just run out of factory warranty (July 2020) and the selling dealer is not a MB dealer and does not offer an extended warranty on "exotics" as he called them. Any advise for someone like me. Car has 35k miles on it but am worried about finding a reputable aftermarket warranty company. I appreciate the input.

a few months ago I paid $4500 for a 7yr/100k extended warranty on my 2017 GLS. It had 49k miles. There is not reason to buy this early unless you want to finance it into your payment. A lot of things can happen over then first 50k miles that you may decided not to keep the car. Or you may just not end up driving as much and not need as many miles (ie due to COVID) That said I’m glad I bought it as German cars can be expensive to fix out of warranty.
Was this an aftermarket company? If so, who did you end up with?
