GLS63 - Now or later?

I've changed my focus from an E63s wagon to a GLS63 but with the current platform on its way out and the last year of the current GLS63 on dealer lots Im having an internal dilemma.
The redesign GLS63 wont be available until late 2020 or early 2021 and I have a fear of buying first model year so that puts my purchase our even further.
I overall like the current GLS63 but it will obviously take a hit in value as soon as any of the redesigns are available. I've read as much as 15% discounts on the current GLS63 is possible which makes the depreciation slightly more bearable then paying closer to MSRP.
Should I take the plunge on the current GLS63 or look into other options until the redesign is released. This will be a cash or finance purchase.

TIA for you thought.

Which do you want? You seem to have talked yourself out of buying a first model year vehicle. So it is either a current model GLS63 or wait a few years. What are the pros and cons of waiting, in your mind? Do you need a new vehicle? Or is a new vehicle a want?

2021 GLS580 all black. 2014 GLK black (kids car). formerly: 2014 GL550 Palladium Silver (US)
My mind is going thru the same scenarios. My 14GL550 is about to hit 100k. We meant to upgrade it sooner but they wouldn’t offer black headliner (at least for brown interior) & My husband won’t have white and I didn’t want black seats - excuses that kept us from pulling the trigger.

I have a 125k warranty.
Id love a 20 gls580 but it sounds like it could be a year to get one. Do I buy time by finding a lightly used 18 AMG 63 without wasting big bucks???
Would a dealer bundle deal with a Cpo now and a placeholder for 580?
I guesss I should have been tracking resale values.

The current GLS are nice rides! Get one at a great deal with that discount you mentioned, or a low mile, CPO as mentioned. I understand wanting the newest and most modern, but that's a ways off no? How soon do you need the car?

I don't "need" the GLS but it would certainly be beneficial to the family.
I'm looking at used but would like one under 10k miles (~$90k) in Selenite Grey w\ black interior+black 22s,
Most that I've seen are black or white. I'll keep my eyes open but might end up with something else if one doesn't pop up soon.

Wagon is great but suspension is a little rough for the family and another one that's better bought used.

The wagons have great lesidual valur. 2014 for still 60k. I think those are a better bet new.

Here I found it! Pricey though https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...7007/overview/

Abiut the bundle deal. Yiu never know until you ask. I wouldn't think why not. They're essentially selling you two cars.
I found a 15 gl63 with the brown and black headliner.

I prefer the gl vs gls. I like the pre facelift drls...

Or some gls

Thanks.
I should further explain, one reason I'd prefer a used GLS63 is they have the black headliner AND, more importantly, they include the Active Curve (or whatever its call today). When I was looking at used or new, in stock, GLS550, they rarely have the active curve.

And the GLS63 would be a very fine upgrade even without the '20 new features.

I was just about to ask whether Active Curve is carried over to the 2020 GLE/GLS maybe under a different name?

Yes. It’s all under the eabc. But it’s much pricier than the active curve option though.

That's what I am kind of afraid of. Active curve is really useful but I don't need the full bouncing and corner leaning capabilities of the new ABC package to justify the high cost of it...

2019 GLS 63 AMG
Just traded in my 2018 GLS 450 for a 2019 63 AMG. Not a wise move some would say, but the active curve alone is probably worth the upgrade already, so much better in turns! No need to mention the power, night and day.

Only thing I miss from 2018 is the magic vision control.. why 63amg doesn't have it?

For what its worth... I have never purchased the first new model of any manufacturer.. I have learned from friends working in the industry that manufacturers take all of the service record codes over the next few years once a new model comes out and they improve defects, tuning and update quality procedures of missed items etc. I have never been in a dealer on a warranty item or in a dealer for anything outside of recalls in the past 40 years and I have never purchased a car used. Seems to work for me... Cheers

Any pics? Were you offered a good deal on the 63AMG?

Solid advice. I've said the same things for years and non-car people look at me like im crazy.
Look at all the issues on the X5/X7 forum right now. The Volvo forum was the same when the XC90 came out.
My dilemma is spending over 100k on the last model year. Unfortunately the color and options I desire are only showing up in new models.
If I wanted black or white I'd have a used 2018 in my garage right now.

I'd add I've had 2 first year runs that were and still are flawless. Got my 63 new and it's been rock solid since! W222 was also a great car during it's warranty period......2014

Im sure there are plenty of people who haven’t had issues with a first year model but it’s a fact that any first year model will have more issues then the 2nd yr. If you rolled the dice and came up with 7’s then congrats on the win.

Pics or it didn't happen, right?

I like the current model exterior design more. The rear of the new model just don't work for me, for now. Pretty sure it will grow as we say more on the road. It's just something people's eye will get used to. The more you see the more you will accept.

I still haven't made a decision. I'm between a new Selenite Gray or Black OR just just going another route (maybe restyled Q7).
The restyled AMG is too far out and given I never purchase first model year so it's even further.
My hesitation is how much of a hit ill take on a 19' GLS63 if I sell in 3 years. If I pay MSRP it'll be 45k so to mitigate I need find a good deal.
All the used ones I've come across just dont hit the mark so Im thinking new is my only option.

Even though I have zero interest in the X7 dealers are already offering heavy discounts and the outgoing Q7 is seeing 15-20% off MSRP.
Is this even possible on a new AMG or is is there a chance?
