2018 GLS 550 & 2016 GL450
GLS 550 Performance Tune
Good morning my first post to the forum and I just registered about ten minutes ago after spending a good hour absorbing a lot of knowledge about the GLS 550. I just purchased a 2018 GLS 550 pre owned and upgraded from the GL 450 (2016). I was weighing the GL 63 but not practical for my wife on a daily basis factor so happily was satified with the GLS 550. So the question is has anyone ever tuned there GLS 550 with an after market tune or chip? I see that there is race chip out but I am open to know about other options or your thoughts?

There is so much information on the X166 forums and other sections that use the same engine. Start your search there. Not understanding the GL63 comment though. The only difference is the performance and onlynslighly less MPG's

Let's make some noise here!
Just got the car, plenty of pow, but honestly I've been looking at tunes already(sorry, it's a 4 ring thing 😉.
Can some of the more senior Mercedes owners share their experiences with different tuning houses? Extra 100 ponies/torqies is significant increase for the 550 rig.
some are überexpensive, some are cheap
Also, any other components to stiffen the rig, slam it a bit., etc. ...
Thanks,
Bob

I have a Racechip on my GLS63, easy to install, totally reversible and makes the GLS much better in terms of readily available pull, refinement the same as before, no difference on mpg and hugely less expensive than some of the tunes out there.
It makes the AMG bark a little more on cold start and downshift in S+ too. Gains are impressive plug your car model info into the website.
I had it on my G63 Wagon too, no issues whatsoever
