I have a few months left on my lease and I am considering buying out the lease and keeping the GLS with 31K miles. So far, it has been a real good vehicle without any problems. Anyone have any input on how their GLS aged?? My other options that I am considering would be the X7, Navigator, Yukon Denali, or new Jeep Grand Cherokee L (really love it). If I were to keep the GLS, I would purchase the CPO warrany and plan to keep it for about 3 years at which point I expect to have about 90K miles on it. Thank you in advance for any advice and opinions.
I just went from a 18 GLS450 to a 21 X7 and couldn't be happier. Lots more updated tech than the X166 generation. I also looked at the X167 GLS and couldn't justify it considering how much more you get in the X7 for price compared to the GLS.

You are driving driving one of the most reliable MBs in the past 10 years. The X/W166 platform is solid, as is the M276 engine in both NA and TT variants. I think 2018/2019 GLE and GLS with gasoline V6 are the best preowned MBs on the market today.
My 2017 GLE 350 4MATIC has 70k miles. Zero problems with the exception of several oil weeps that are common with this engine. One of the weeps was fixed, reluctantly, by the dealer under warranty. The other weep hasn't changed much so I'm hopeful it's in remission. Check the front cylinder head covers that hold the cam adjuster solenoids. If there is oil weeping, I recommend asking the dealer to re-seal the covers under warranty.
Summary: no concerns about owning the vehicle to 90k miles and beyond.
Separate question - do you have the off road engineering package with 2 speed transfer case? That's a rare and desirable option.
No, my GLS does not have that option. I figured that the engine and chasis would remain strong. I'm more worried about the electronics and interior. I don't want to drive around in a rattle box. LoL. I have had an annoying sqeak out of the driver's seat since practically new that apparently the dealer can not fix. All they do is tighten a nut but that doesn't solve anything.
Rattles develop over time with any vehicle. I haven’t seen on this site where the X/W166 platform is worse (or better) than average as far as high mileage interior squeaks and rattles.

I have heard used cars are selling for up 30 per cent compared to average. Curious if your lease buyout price is a bargain compared to the average price paid for a used GLS that is the same year as yours.
