ASSYST Plus service counter not updating?

2018 GLS 550 purchased used CPO in January of 2021 with 27773 miles on it. I also purchased an extended warranty AND pre-paid maintenance. The car now has 55220 miles on it but it has never called for a scheduled maintenance service. Everytime I check the ASSYST PLUS it says "Service C In 7400 mi" - regardless of the mileage displayed the Service C mileage is always the same.
Is this functioning correctly? I've paid for pre-paid maintenance but the car is never calling for service?! (I have changed the oil and filter twice, and the air filters once on my own)

These are pictures of mileage and service counter from yesterday and today, and, the "Service C In 7400 mi" has read like that for over a year.

Yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday afternoon.

Today.

Forgot the details but I think it counts down every 100 miles, 500 miles... if you drive less it will count down as days, if I am not mistaken.

I can't help with "why" but it should have called for at least one oil change in that time, unless perhaps you reset the minder when you did the oil changes?

John CC, no I didn't reset the minder. I guess I'll get it to the dealer to see if there is a gauge cluster software update that I'm missing...

I had the same thing happen on mine, and I had to bring it back to the dealer twice to have them reset from their own system. It would not reset through the steering wheel. However, since reset, it has been fine.
Mine was on Service C 365 Days for 12k miles.

Thanks masscomguru. I guess I'll make an appointment and ask them to complete any scheduled service that it has missed in that interval.

FYI.....I had the same type problem on a S560 and I posted a question on the W222 forum.

I had the car serviced Oct of '22 at 25K miles. A few weeks later the ASSY display showed the next service at over 25,000 miles.

I ignored it because I was'nt going to wait that long before my next oil change.

Last week i drove by the Mercedes dealership and asked an service assistant why the Assy Plus showed 14,000 miles before my next service. He was confused also but noted I now had 35,000 miles plus on it and it needed service, so I set an appt the next day.

Got the car back and the ASSy said next service 25,000 miles. Uggggh. I ignored it and gave up. Saturday i did a 300 mile trip. Later in the day I checked the Assy and it now said something like SERVICE DUE IN 360 DAYS. So? I guess all is right in the world as of now.

By the way, the service advisor told me on the day I picked it up that the numbers I saw on the Assy was due to a 'new way of setting the Assy'. Hmmmmmm. fishy.

Come about three or four months it should turn to miles instead of Days.

Cprrection. Since last saturday when it said Service was due in 360 Days.......it now says, just a few minutes ago, Service due 24,500 miles. Crummy deal imho. I jsut have to remember I had it serviced at 35K and remember to have it done in 45K. Still bothers me a bit.

HAILERS2 - I have a call in to the service advisor about it. I'll just make an appointment and take it in. I just don't know if there's an A, B, or C service that I've pre-paid for with my pre-paid maintenance contract that I've missed. The a$$hole in me wants to think that MB has some "tech" mode they enable to deny / reduce your regular service interval notifications when you purchase pre-paid maintenance.

I’ve had the same…my dash always said Service C in 10000.

Dealer eventually fixed it, but I missed many Services…kept up the Cs every 10k or so, but never an A or B…

It's amazing how we ever got by without a reminder popping up on the dash and nagging us...

John, I just put a piece of blue tape with mileage targets for oil / air / tire rotation in the upper left of the windshield for the pickup and my old Miata. I just need the counter to work on the MB so I can get my money's worth on the pre-paid maintenance.

John, yes. I just assumed that MB would queue off of the system counter.

So, next time it comes due for service, bring it in and have them fix the minder, too.

Service Update

I have a 2019 S560 and just had it in to an independent (not dealer) shop for a yearly service. Oil and filter change plus brake pads and brake fluid change. Afterwards, the independent shop couldn't reset the "Service B" reminder and I was told the problem was a software update needed to be installed. Searching through these forums I see that there is a technical service bulletin that addresses this issue. The TB is L100.20-P-069865. So, maybe there are other MB models with the same software issue. I'll call a local MB dealer on Monday to see whether they know about this.

Interesting, I just did an oil change and it wouldn’t let me reset the service. In the past it has reset with no problem. It was at the dealership a couple of months ago, so I am wondering if they changed something.

Sometimes trying a couple miles, or a hundred miles allow you to reset again.

Just stumbled upon this thread again. Sorry I meant "driving" a couple miles or a hundred miles....
