Greetings All - if anyone happens to come across the tow specifications for the new model I would appreciate the info ... the X166 rating is 7,500# ... and wondering with the new underpinnings if the rating will nudge up a bit ... Thanks

Yes for North America models 580 and 450 please, and add to that the max tongue weight and if it is still a Class IV hitch, would be useful. North American hitch is likely different than the Euro hitch. To get the very best tow rating using a weight distribution hitch, the gross vehicle weight, payload capacity and individual axle load limits are needed. I think we may have to wait until we see the information in the door stickers of a newly built 2020GLS to get actual GVWR and payload etc..

Interested here too. Hopefully it went up a little bit since I believe the new GLE got bumped up to 7500.

Likely it is going to be very close if not identical to the V167 GLE. Those specs are Class IV, 7,716 lb (3,500 kg) tow, 617 lb (280 kg) tongue weight. Specs for the GLE 580 have not been released but don't expect them to be different.

The mbusa site states the 2020 GLE has a class III hitch 7700lbs - that is up 500lbs over the previous generation but now only a class III. The 2019 GLS is a class IV 7700lbs. I am hoping the 2020 GLS is a class IV and will be increased 500lbs in tow rating also - up to 8200lbs to better compete with North American models. Do you know if the GLE 580 will be a classIV?

Hmm...I thought Class III topped out at 6,000 lb. Anyhow, the GLS is competing with the likes of the Audi Q7 (7,700 lb.) and the BMW X7 (7,500 lb.). I doubt very much you'll see a tow rating that high.

New US DOG indicates tow rating is 7700 for both the GLS580 and GLS450.
