Then I asked about putting a deposit down, he said I don't need to as the deposits are fully refundable so it makes no difference. I asked if he could order the car for me and what the estimated delivery date would be and he said he had started trying to get a production slot, and that delivery would be in 2 months which means early to mid January.
I'm skeptical until I get the key/title in my hands. I sent the internet manager and the sales lady emails earlier this week asking if they were able to secure a production slot. So far haven't heard back from them yet.
I'm keeping my order with the local dealer (only $1500 discount off MSRP) until I see some confirmation that this truecar dealer is actually getting me the car at 8% discount. They do have very good reviews on deallerrater (4.9 stars in 667 reviews) and yelp so I'm hopeful but also skeptical.
Another forum member asked me for contact info for this truecar dealer. I sent it to him. Will have to see if he has any luck.
They did tell me they are able to offer such high discount because they are a large dealer network (they have 16 dealerships in 4 states) and thus make money on volume.

Anyone order or take delivery of an ordered GLS450 lately?
I'm reading all kinds of delays on GLE delivery in the GLE forum. Since they're built in the same factory with many shared components I'm wondering if GLS builds are delayed as well.
My dealer says their system still shows 2nd decade January production and delivery 3 to 4 weeks after that (mid to late February).

I'd say that was a nice offer and if you want the vehicle you should buy it. A dealer has to pay the bills. I didn't get 8% off on mine, or even 7% and I'm okay with it. Mine involved a trade that I was not willing to sell in a private sale. And I know it went to auction. But they gave me a very generous value for it so that factors into the final price also. Mine was a straight purchase--not a lease. I tend to drive mine several years and put over 150,000 miles on them. It had several problems.

Then I found a dealer about an hour away that offered me 8% off my ordered car. I'm still a bit skeptical since they didn't want a deposit, and we've only communicated via email and phone.
The other 10+ dealers either won't discount off MSRP or would get anywhere from $100 to $500 off.
So if you got over $4k off, that seems to be a good deal at this time.

That seems like a very good deal at this stage. I've spoken with over a dozen dealers in 3 stats on the west coast. My local dealer offered me $1000 for being an existing customer. I went to truecar site and then my local dealer offered the "true car" price of $1500 off.

I was able to get 6.2% off from a dealership that didn’t want to even move off msrp at first. Got another dealership to agree to the price out of state and suddenly the dealership that didn’t want to budge was willing to price match on an order to get a sale. It’s worth shopping around even out of state.
