Thanks Fab - as a GLS 450 owner who is now towing more than originally planned, I will be giving the new 580 a serious look-see ... while the 450 is a sweet driving large SUV, steeper hills and overpasses put a strain on her ... Steve

Wondering if e-Active is worth the $6500 option price over the standard airmatic? I love how my 2010 GL handles with airmatic. Doesn't feel like a 7000 lb truck in the curves. It also rides a lot better than my former Yukon Denali.

GLS 580 compared to GLE 580
Yep, agree. Actually $21k difference. Compared to the GLS, with the GLE 580 you don't get the 3rd row, Active Parking, Lighting Package, heated & ventilated multicontour seats, 5-zone climate control; also, availability of 23" wheels and Off-Road Package. However, you do get the AMG Line Exterior, which I think is hugely better looking.

Thank You! I'll most probably go with a 450 and not opt for E-ABC. One of the media reviews mentioned that the ride was more smoother without E-ABC.

GLS vs. GLE
I was responding to bkdc's post which had the caveat, "...if you can go with the smaller car." Some will carry more than 5 rarely so it is a valid comparison.

Thanks for the posting. I always love finding all of the mistakes in a DOG. Don’t they proofread this stuff?
Note the “sinGLS” find-and-replace mistake of all GLE instances.
Strange: not a single reference to the sand bouncing mode that is in every press review of the X167.
No steering wheel heating in the 580. Waaa.

Black Exclusive Leather option
Edit: I stand corrected. The seats, belts & dash are grey (black dash with U09 MBTex). Floor mats & steering wheel are black. I apologize.

There’s a video on YouTube somewhere with the Napa leather ... I thought it looked quite grey, but it was hard to tell. Sorry don’t have the video link... will post if I find it.
