I had matte white on one of my AMG sedans, so from experience I recommend that you do a matte wrap rather than factory matte paint. Magno is a PITA to maintain in the long term.

Interesting the GLS 63 DOG shows a standard feature called "Parking Damage Detection". This is not in the 450/580 DOG. Wondering if this can be added later to those models?

Winter tires GLS63 23”
Does anyone make 22 or 23” winter tires to fit GLS? I live in Chicago, so wondering if I’d also need to buy a whole new set of wheels to run Nov - March? Thanks

No Michelins available in those sizes, yet. But with the new 22" and 23" wheels on the 2020 GLS580, I expect them to start making the PS4S and PA5 in those sizes someday.

I haven’t seen an updated AMG GLS DOG beyond the one posted above entitled Preliminary Draft.

Thanks, cincy8! I built mine and hope to do a test drive soon. No platinum leather like my ‘17. :-( And the Burmester 3D doesn’t hold a candle to the Naim in my Bentayga. Decisions decisions!

I'll have to settle to living vicariously thru you. I'm just hoping to get a loaded all black 580 built this year.

I have my preliminary order for new GLS63 and tentative 3rd decade October build. First in line at my dealership in South Florida.
I have a question about wheel size regarding ride, performance, heat dissipation, etc etc. Most of my driving (most miles accumulated) cross country 1 round trip a year. The rest is So Florida with fairly good roads. What are your thoughts about 21", 22" and 23" factory wheels? I REALLY like the GLS580 23" AMG twin 5-spoke but not offered in the 63. So, looking at the black 22" and the black 23" as my options (not much of a fan of either
I've learned with my driving style on my current GL63 summer tires were not that important especially after a few thousand miles the NOISE and only around 6K miles of tread on a good year. I switched to an all season performance tire on my GL63 and was MUCH happier with noise and tread life. The reality is we just don't track these trucks nor put them on the edge of their envelope so, a notch down on tire performance was un noticeable. I also have been pressing the mountain temps going in to early fall so another reason for the performance all season tires.
What are your educated thoughts reading 22 vs 23 and tire options on either etc etc ?

The 23" tires are going to be better for handling but worse for ride quality, because the rears are 35 profile. Several reviewers have noted a noticeable harsher ride on the 23s.
You'll find VERY limited tire choice in the 23" size. Basically P Zero only, which are noisy. No winter tires. The DOG doesn't say if the 63 comes with all seasons, but I seriously doubt they would. Probably not a concern if you stick to Florida.
I have the RXY wheel on my GLS, and love it. I use Michelin PS4S in summer, Pirelli Winter Scorpion in Fall-Spring.

I'm worried about the availability of all season or winter tires for the 22" or 23" wheels.
Because of the width of the rear wheels, there doesn't seem to be anything other than summer tires available.
All season and winter tires are available for the 21" rims.
I've checked on tire rack and many other sources on the web. Nothing.
My understanding is that all GL63s come with summer tires.
If you look at the DOG, under wheels, it says RO1 and 669.
From another post on this site (I'm NOT an independent expert!) I've learned that:
RO1 = summer
RO2 = all season
669 = spare

Thank you. My concerns too. I talked with 'experts' and they don't think any significant ride difference from 22-23 but the only option will be summer tires for a few years. I'll have to pay more attention to protecting the rims but all said aesthetically the 23's are the way to go.

I always get a Renntech software upgrade. It's easy to recommend and have been doing it since 2004 with ZERO issues. If I remember correctly, Brabus uses Renntech and rebrands the software? My opinion Brabus is more show. I prefer a wolf in sheep's clothing

DOG errors
I’m placing my order and found a few more errors in the preliminary DOG:
297 2nd-row sunshades: manual per DOG, or powered as mbusa.com says?
mbusa.com gives a $0 option for heated and cooled front cupholders, but the DOG doesn’t mention it at all. NetStar code is 311.
NetStar charged me $700 for 293 rear side airbags.
DB6 lists 898 twice.

The mbusa.com build configurator doesn’t output your wheel or trim choices in the summary page, so you can’t just email the summary to your dealer.
