Personally having the AMG package with the painted wheel trim means more than the 580 vs 450. If the MF the same as the 450? If so, this would be an easy choice.
Btw, what is it with the cheap plastic/rubber airbag covers? Do you have to get a Maybach or GLS63 to get a Nappa leather one? Just looks cheap...

I wonder if MB marketing/sales are ultimately
vindicated in this decision , by getting increased 580 sales. After all the 63 and even the maybach are all just examples of the same “have to pay a lot more to get the next level”, with no a la carte option buying between the levels. Maybe the American buyer is just judged to be more willing to pay

There is no way I would pay the extra money for a 580 just for the appearance, the engine yes, appearance no way for me. The wheel fender is an easy and cheap fix if it bothers you so much.

Well I wanted most of the options that are standard on 580 so that closed the price gap. Also the wheels, front grill, rear, and steering wheel were all important to me as well as the painted wheel arches. And I will appreciate the V8, even though I don't think it was needed.
