Cancelled my GLS order

Reached out to a few BMW dealers last night after getting back from the MB dealer, they are offering some very attractive deals on the X7 and from order to delivery time of 6 weeks. (Previously ordered X3 for wife, also took 6 weeks)
If I don't hear back from MBUSA by Tuesday, then I'm likely going to cancel my order and order an X7

So in the end I said to both of them, cancel my order.
Now have a X7 on order with a 6-8 week estimate for delivery. Better equipped than the GLS I had on order and about $5k less plus 3 years of free maintenance. (do sacrifice a little in 3rd row and trunk space compared to GLS)

Basically the car I had on order was pushed back 3 months, then when production finally started, they couldn't complete it due to a parts shortage, so it's sitting on a lot somewhere waiting for parts to complete the build.
I told him the same thing I told the MBUSA rep. and ask that they cancel the order. If they could not secure all the parts to build it after it's been in the production pipeline for 6 months, doesn't look like it will get resolved any time soon.
and I don't have any of the high end options either like EABC or the 3D audio.

BMW gives you 3 ways to track your order without getting the dealer involved. You can track it on their web site, using the automated voice service on their 800# or call the BMW genius line and talk to a human.
I don't know why MB doesn't have any of these tracking capabilities. BMW has had it for well over 5 years (Not sure when they implemented it, but these existed 5 years ago when we ordered my wife's X3).

A possible outcome is an increase in recent model used car values because some people won’t want to or be able to wait for a new vehicle.
