Cool A HUGE GLS in the small country of The Netherlands

This car is so insane I love it. Even though taxes for the 400d are about 1000 euros every quarter, it still is an AMAZING SUV.

Congrats. You’re lucky you can still get the diesel in Europe. Mercedes not offering in the US. I loved my GL350 Blutech.

Other than the fact the diesel engine is horribly unreliable and incredibly costly to maintain long term, yeah, it's great

Can't comment on the 400 but the 350 was reliable for me. I put 85K miles on it and 10 years without many problems. There was an early issue with the fuel injectors that was covered by warranty and may have been caused by bad fuel, as 2010 was early days for clean diesel in the US. The only other problem I had was a crank position sensor that failed, but I've had the same issue on gas engines, so I don't hold the diesel accountable for that.

You got rid of it right before most owners have issues with oil cooler leaks, adblue system failures, and timing chain tensioner failure. OM642 issues are very well documented on the 164/166 forums. At one time, the diesels carried higher values than the gasser models but that is no more.
