GLS450 Prepaid Maintenance

4 years $2250. Is it worth it? Seems about what 2xA & 2xB service would cost anyway?

In my opinion $2250 for 4 years is no longer a good deal. It used to be $999 for 3 years then changed to $1400 for 3 years. Those were good deals.

If you have a local dealer that's part of costco auto program, you can get 15% service coupon from costco. In my area, 2xA + 2xB using the Costco 15% coupon actually comes out to less than $2250.

If you are getting quoted $2250 for 4Yr/40K you might want to jump on it.

MSRP on 4yr/40K is now $2850.

Depending on your intended ownership in length/mileage - if you plan to own past 4yr/40K - please understand 40K is a Major+ - at 45K spark plugs will be due - some choose to do 3-pack thru 30K - then going into 40K they get a 2pk (MARP $1490) or 3pk (MSRP $2060) to cover 40-50K (getting spark plugs done too) then if you go to 60K that 60K is another major+

You are in NYC - absolutely no reason NOT to get Prepaid - you will pay much more going a-la-carte and NYC or NY prices

Interesting thought - I guess you can add a 2/3-pack down the road after already doing a 3 year 3-pack? This car is for my wife and she holds on to cars for a WHILE. What do you think is the best strategy to go straight for the 4 year now or do 3 year and add another 2-3year after?

You were right - they raised the price to the $2,850 price point, with no further discounts (saying that's the price MB offers). I wound up passing on it, with the Costco discount and the "express" servicing options some local dealerships offer, it didn't seem like there was much of a discount at the $2,850 price point.

You can always decide to "add/buy prepaid maintenance" BEFORE your next Service Check In... you can't add/buy Prepaid Maintenance for that next service if you have already Checked-In for it.

Let me say this - if Prepaid Maintenance Goes Up - the reason for that is Service prices a la carte will also go up soon ..

Car to elaborate on the NYC angle? I live in Manhattan and my dealer is MB Manhattan (although I bought the car somewhere else).
They serviced both my previous E-klasses, which are now gone.
I just purchased a GLS 450 and have not been updated on the Service A and B prices.
What makes NYC dealer service expensive.

Thanks in advance.

Is there an easy way to find which MB dealers in my area are part of the Costco program?

Unfortunately my local dealer here in Santa Monica does not participate. There is one in the San Fernando valley that does along with an independent shop. But my dealer does have A/B specials and when I calculated the cost of 2x each over the next 4 years, the prepaid maintenance (even at the discounts discussed here) does not make sense.

@amelen What did you end up getting? I just started shopping around and was quoted $3850 for 3 years, 30000 miles. This seems very expensive compared to some of the rates that I see in this thread.
