Augmented Reality Nav— Upgrade Options
Not sure if this is answered already, couldn’t find anything. If the car from the factory doesn’t have MBUX Augmented Reality Nav, can it be added later? Not sure if this is just a software item or also a hardware

I'm guessing that you're thinking about opting for that?
I have that option on my GLS and I think it's a neat option. but I can also tell you that, of 4 months that I owned this car so far, I've used that TWICE.
once after I bought the car to check it out. and once to show it off to a co-worker.
Especially, I'm using Carplay+Waze as my Nav, I don't see too much value in that option beyond "cool" factor.

"Ah GL450", it works well when it's on the screen.
the problem with that for me is that it does not get turned on, unless you have a MB navigation destination in action.
I wish we can just have that aug reality stay on the screen all the time.
when I'm navigating to go somewhere, I'm using Waze or Google Maps.
and in Apple Carplay environment, you can only have one active navigation at a time, including the vehicle's native one.

It's hardly useful in its current version. The maps are 2 years behind, the routing is awkward, and the spoken instructions are missing the level of detail (e.g. exit numbers or street names) everyone is accustomed to from any of the navigation apps.
