Not bad. Only $800 more for the 450 and ~$1k more for the 580. Given the list of options that are now standard (21" wheels, 4-zone, etc. for the 450) this is a pretty good value.
All the dealers are saying the base price for the 21 GLS hasn't been announced. Where did you get these from?
There appears to be an error in the DOG, or I am not reading it correctly. It says code 481 (Underguard) is available for GLS450W4 with the prerequisite of 430 (Off Road Package) or DC7PKG (E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL). I don't see the 430 (Off Road Package) option anywhere and the DC7PKG (E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL) is only available on the GLS580W4
For 2020 E-ABC was available on both models. The 2021 guide says only available on 580. It's hard to know if this is a mistake or a real model year change. You'll have to talk to your dealer.
Already have.
GLS 450 $76,000 plus destination
GLS 580 $98,850 plus destination
GLS 63 $132,100 plus destination
Destination is $1050
Below are the pictures from the official Mercedes Corporate document showing the 2021 GLS prices (same as those provided by MercedesMax). I’m just posting this since a bunch of the dealerships are saying that it’s not available yet.
I ordered a 2021 gls580 yesterday. The two differences I noticed from the dealer order guide were the availability of the dashcam, which is not listed in the dog, and the substitution of porcelain headliner for macchiato beige headliner. Base pricing was still not available, so we negotiated a discount from the eventual MSRP.
Everything is changeable until the new truck is a few weeks from production, so I wanted to scoop up a slot now. Will definitely revisit the build once the final 2021 options come out.
The main thing I wanted that isn't in the dog is an AMG style diamond drill.
I ordered the 2021 GLS580 in September 20 also with a discount off of MSRP. Current expected delivery is early February 2021. Long wait but already owning a 2009 GLS I expect it to be a great vehicle. 2009 has 193k miles. Still runs great.
Trying to answer a couple of questions by others here too. Yes the dashcam is real for 2021. MB online configuration tool was recently released (December) with pricing but it has omissions. Extended warranty and maintenance pricing has not been published as best I can tell. I bought this with my BMW and it really paid off. But I've experienced more problems with the BMW versus my wife's GLS450.
I ordered a gls 580 back in June. The production date was December 16th. Spoke with the sales rep today, and learned that the truck is in the dreaded factory hold status. Which I assume means it's waiting for parts.
He said he spoke to someone at the factory or at Mercedes USA, wasn't clear to me, and they could tell him nothing about a new expected delivery date, or why it was on hold.
Does anyone else have similar experiences or guidance?
The new F-150 Limited with the hybrid powertrain and 7200 watt outlet in the bed is looking a bit better every day. I've been wondering for a while whether a model S plus an F150 or RAM 1500 would be a better combo than the GLS580...
2021 GLS580 all black. 2014 GLK black (kids car). formerly: 2014 GL550 Palladium Silver (US)
YES! I have happy news.
Background: I turned down a Jan ‘20 build I ordered late fall ‘19 because I had to defer an option I thought I cared about at the time and didn’t want an early build.
I finally got a May allocation pre-COVID. Eventually, got 2nd decade December.
But after asking, I was notified early Dec is was built. It was sitting there in a few different status notes, essentially saying it was finished but sitting. They had not info on why (‘hold’, ‘ready’, maybe something else). . But it was released for delivery then right after Christmas and arrived to the dealer on 12/30. We are a drive from Lance, AL - so transportation was quick.
We just took delivery and it is beautiful. We were out of town so it was there a couple days, waiting for us with a bow.
Everything is as we wanted except that I missed that the edit on the ‘21 build version (after review multiple ‘20 build versions) I was sent to review was missing the heated steering wheel. But now I actually love the sport steering wheel. We got the fast heating option so I’ll put my hands on the armrests to warm.
Our dealer got 2 580’s at the same time - both pre -sold.
Black with Night pkg, black Napa leather.. 22 inch wheels (working to get 21’ inch AMG 5 spoke black accents for winter wheels), 7 seater with Executive pkg.. We thought we ordered the passenger sun screens and 2nd row upgrade trim but that was also missed by my edit from ‘20 to ‘21. I did NOT heat 3rd row or do upgraded sound. Most everything else.
I LOVE it. The Tech is so much more than I expected - like dash reflects the color of the stop light ahead. Heads up is cool. Now to learn how to use it all! ... like the dashcam!
I was distracted by my daughters questions about something she saw on MBUX and the car prevented me from hitting the car stopped unexpectedly in front.
I have ceramic coating scheduled with 3rd party. I’m going with the dealer to protect the leather with the ‘gold’ packages including wheel/tires, windshield, keys, dings, and 7 yr 100K at I think a reasonable price for all (after a discussion on price).
I’m replacing a ‘14 GL 550.
The one thing I like about the 550 is that the dash felt more open vs. the 580. I feel a little closed in - but I’ll get used to it.

Thanks for your research ddruker and cincy8's for your good news.
You certainly had me thinking and concerned but after talking to my sales associate my news was slightly better but still not exciting. The last time I spoke with him he said production would be 3rd or 4th decade of January (i.e, Jan 21 to Feb 9th I guess). After sending him an "I might cancel" if it's later than that, (my comment was that it will be a 6 month old car within the model year) he called me and after typical discussion he said the 580 is now slated for 2nd or 3rd decade of February which is an update but not too exciting in my opinion. No VIN has been assigned so until that is established nothing is really firm. Delivery is to Maryland so that will add a week I guess.
This is really for my wife but I got to add the toys. I do the longer drives so it should be fun. E-active body control will hopefully provide a really smooth ride. The bouncy will be cute but that's not the primary purpose of getting it. We did the captains chairs because our kids are grown. Base is Designo white with Machiatto/black interior. Black accent wheels plus more goodies.
My kids and I went to drive a model S performance edition today, to see if the combo of that and a new F-150 would be better than the GLS 580.
The model S is ridiculously fast. The first time we accelerated in ludicrous mode we all literally laughed it was so crazy. The acceleration can even make you a bit nauseous. But beyond that we were not very impressed. The interior just isn't very nice for a $95,000 vehicle. It feels more like honda quality. And the drive feel was nothing spectacular, just okay. I came away not really understanding why people are so in love with their Teslas - I think you really have to be in love with the idea of electric, or supercar level acceleration has to be your thing. But a $95,000 vehicle with a $30,000 quality interior, I just don't get it...
At the risk of going way off topic. Yeah, after living a dozen years of life in luxury with my Mercedes-Benz automobiles, test driving a few Teslas has been interesting. I agree completely: acceleration is great, particularly in the model S and X, but the model Y is by far the worst car I’ve ever driven. Bouncy suspension, tinny sounding audio system, poor visibility, bad fit and finish, narrow headrests that are unsafe.

Getting really close for GLS580 delivery: "Production is complete and now waiting for it to be released to a car Carrier to head our way."
The picture used in the dealer order guide still seems just like the magma grey. So either they haven’t replaced the picture or they kept the color the same and merely renamed it from Magma to black. Notice the difference in color on the door and the fact that the leather portion by the seat control doesn’t match the leather portion by the door opening handle.
I’m answering my own question from above, the black exclusive nappa leather seats that come with the 2021 GLS are definitely much darker than the magma grey version they replaced from the 2020 GLS (both x167). This should have been obvious because of the name but the picture in the dealer ordering guide is misleading.
It’s worth noting two things, (1) in MY2021 they discontinued the option for the nappa leather upper dash and I was hoping that it was because it was now automatically included with the exclusive nappa leather seats but that is incorrect and the only possibility is for MBText upper dash (darn). (2) I am very impressed how well the “951 black nappa leather” (some list it as black exclusive nappa leather) matches the “H35 designo Black flamed natural grain ash wood trim.” Both the color and the texture are much more similar than I would have expected. This makes it even more frustrating that the dash is not nappa leather because the MB text has a more textured look than the smoother nappa leather and doesn’t match that would trim as well.
Now that I’m writing this out, as opposed to just thinking it, it makes me embarrassed how picky I am but I know there are many of you out there that are as picky as me (if not more). So hopefully you’ll appreciate it.
Does anyone have a list of Special Order Codes that only the dealer can see for the 580? MB used to charge a $250 fee plus the cost of the option for certain “custom” additions in certain models. I saw a new 580 on-line at a dealer with red AMG brake calipers as an example, of course it is not listed on DOG anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Wow, I’m very interested in finding out more about these special order options. If you have a picture of the GLS580 with red amg brakes can you post it so I can use it to follow up with the salesman at the manhattan mercedes corporate dealership. They sometime have good connections.
Here is the dealer ordering guide for the 2021 GLS450 and GLS580. I received this today from my local dealership (suburbs of New York City). (see below for attachment link)
Thanks for providing this, now that I'm looking at one of these used.
If this doesn't have the tow package from the factory, what are my options for adding a tow hitch?
