2021 Dealer Ordering Guide (DOG) for GLS 450 and 580
Here is the dealer ordering guide for the 2021 GLS450 and GLS580. I received this today from my local dealership (suburbs of New York City). (see below for attachment link)

For the leather options, I noticed it says "Textured Leather" for all the options except for 215A Macchiato Beige / Black Leather, anyone knows what's difference between "Textured leather" and just "leather"? Which one is better?

Wouldn't the type of leather you want on your car be personal preference?

There seems to be four levels of leather smoothness available on the GLS 2020+. From roughest to smoothest it’s “Leather...(textured)”, “Leather,” “Napa Leather” and “Exclusive Napa Leather”. The textured one is in the pic below and the outer portion of each individual seat has a much courser leather grain and doesn’t match with the inner portion of the seat (where your rear and back contact seat).

First of all, note that the DOG posted above does not list which country it's for. Typically the US ones says "MBUSA" on them.
My educated guess is that there is no difference between "Leather" and "Textured Leather" in this DOG. They merely forgot to include the subtitle "Textured Leather" for the new color options. This is their base leather. Then there's Nappa and Exclusive Nappa. The non-animal material is MB-Tex, which is actually quite nice and close to Nappa in look and feel. And then there's Alcantara ("suede"), which has no rightful place in any car for any use, IMHO, but alas which a number of folks like for its slight grippy-ness compared to leather.

Lol, I kinda agree with you on the Alcantara, but we are probably in the minority. Maybe for headliners, but for seats personally I much prefer leather.

Got it, that really helps, thanks. This makes me lean towards the Macchiato leather.
If this DOG is correct, then Magma Grey is out... which is a real bummer.
The picture used in the dealer order guide still seems just like the magma grey. So either they haven’t replaced the picture or they kept the color the same and merely renamed it from Magma to black. Notice the difference in color on the door and the fact that the leather portion by the seat control doesn’t match the leather portion by the door opening handle.
Jbattan, I’m guessing you are referring to the MSRP jump of the U.S. version of the GLS450 from MY2019 to MY2020 and not the MSRP jump between the MY2020 and MY2021 (which is likely much smaller).
Just saw a post about the 21U dash cam being available for 2021 GLS orders - can anyone share an updated dealer ordering guide (DOG)? I am looking to buy a 580 now, hoping for delivery before the end of the year.
Thanks!

My guess is that a much more revised 2021 GLS 450/580 dealer order guide will be provided closer to the time that the 2021 GLS begins production (e.g., August 2020). I’m still waiting for my dealership to get me information regarding the new 2021 MSRP and other stuff about option changes. I stopped nagging the dealership since it seems to be in the hands of Mercedes corporate.
I ordered a 2021 gls580 yesterday. The two differences I noticed from the dealer order guide were the availability of the dashcam, which is not listed in the dog, and the substitution of porcelain headliner for macchiato beige headliner. Base pricing was still not available, so we negotiated a discount from the eventual MSRP.
Everything is changeable until the new truck is a few weeks from production, so I wanted to scoop up a slot now. Will definitely revisit the build once the final 2021 options come out.
The main thing I wanted that isn't in the dog is an AMG style diamond drill.
I would assume they pre-contracted for years of upholstery supply, so the name change away from magma is in name only...but if anyone can confirm that would be great? I lament the lack of any warm interior color options on a vehicle that should be customizable at this price point.
2021 GLS580 all black. 2014 GLK black (kids car). formerly: 2014 GL550 Palladium Silver (US)
I've seen the Magma Grey, there's no way you'd call that black. I am more inclined to believe either they accidentally left it out, or they forgot to change the picture and it's really gone.
Already have.
GLS 450 $76,000 plus destination
GLS 580 $98,850 plus destination
GLS 63 $132,100 plus destination
Destination is $1050
Not bad. Only $800 more for the 450 and ~$1k more for the 580. Given the list of options that are now standard (21" wheels, 4-zone, etc. for the 450) this is a pretty good value.
