It’s all personal preference. I think they’re both extremely beautiful cars. But when I look at the MB, I see “current” and “fresh” and “timeless”. When I look at the RR, I see “stately” and “lumbering” and “time stamped”. Not saying it’s outdated, not even close. But in my own personal opinion, I don’t think anything ages quite as well as a Mercedes Benz in the looks and functionality arena. All personal presence though.
One thing I will say though about the RR, when I look at the interior of one, I still get the sense of Ford still lingering in the car. I can’t explain why, but I just do. The MB is a far more unique and individualized interior in my opinion. And I don’t think it helps the RR that Ford seems to keep sneaking certain design cues from RR. At times from a 100 ft away, it’s hard for me to tell the difference between an Explorer or a RR on a quick glance. Just certain little bits and picks that are too closely related, and I think that hurts the RR more than it helps the Ford.
but, again, just one man’s opinion. I wouldn’t kick a RR out of the garage, that’s for sure. They are beautiful and unique as well!

No more MB:(
The RR is a timeless design, elegant, and an icon. Proven over decades. GLS has a more modern design that appeals to some. Personally I would go RR all day, it's another level. As for reliability, the RR is hit or miss. I'd only go lease on one.

I'd go Range Rover, unless you're extremely into the tech. There isn't much of a comaprison. And the Supercharged V8 (not being made anymore after last month) is awesome.
And I've found that the "best" builds (builds that would be in high demand used) hold their value very well (far better than GLSs, having shopped for both new and CPO, and gotten trade in quotes on both numerous times to the best I can make it apples-to-apples). LR leases have low residuals, though, which may be what you're referencing, but this is because that's just another way for them to make money... when people are willing to pay...
