I can't get the Magma Grey on a '21 so I'm going with Black Napa. I'm a little bummed about that. 'Engergizing Plus' also isn't available, but not a problem for me.. I think I'm getting almost all options on a 7 seater except NOT getting the upgraded sound system and 3rd row heated seats. I am doing 22" wheels.

I ordered a GLS63 in early July.
Got a copy of my invoice with pricing on September 2. Was told that it looks like a late September build.
No confirmed date yet.
I was interested in the dash cam option. I've been told repeatedly that it wasn't available on the 63.
Oh well...

Longest Outstanding Order?
Hi All - I am new to the forum and new to the world of MB (at least in my adult life) have owned a lot of nice German cars and in late Feb 2020 I ordered a (nearly) loaded GLS 580 to replace a Lincoln Navigator I had leased as a family vehicle. Anyway, the car was supposed to arrive in June and....dealer is responsive to my emails - has sent me screenshots showing VIN assigned and production scheduled, etc. but no commitment on a date from them...
Cincy I noticed your posts - thought it looked like you had ordered in Dec of 19 and were still waiting on the car? Is that correct? I am trying to figure out how bad the backlog situation is.
Thank you all for your help insights!
Cheers,
Kurt

Hi kurtisdigital, I am still waiting for a 12/2019 GLS 580 order. My build was originally scheduled for 1D April. It is in B4 -X2 production status, but I haven't received any updates in a month. I feel like Mercedes should be handling this better. I don't expect them to solve global supply chain issues created by the pandemic, but at the very least they could be a little more proactive and informative in communicating with potential owners who have been waiting almost a year for their vehicle. It would be nice to know what the hold up is and when they expect to have the issue resolved.

I received my pricing from my dealer on Sept. 23rd. However, my Estimated Production Date doesn't line up with the Decade Planned in Netstar...
- Estimated Production Date: 10/25/2020
- Decade Planned: 20/10-2
- Status: B3, X-10 PROD

B4 = 2 Days to Completion. How long has it been in that status? I'm not sure what the X2 status means. Mine is in a B3, X-10 PROD status.

My dealer recently told me mine is scheduled for mid Dec now.
So basically, you can order, but the dealer’s ability to get a production date determines when you can get a car. In a normal year, the dealer might already have cars scheduled and might be able to change their specs to your order. But nothing about this is normal - a new build (and new buyers as a result) + pandemic means everything is uncertain.

I ordered a 2021 gls580 on July 7, 2020. Just received an expected build date of December 15, 2020. As of this week, Oct 1, on the order all of the options have pricing but the build sheet does not yet reflect pricing for the base 2021 GLS 580...

Got our car!
Last week, we got the 580 we ordered near the end of Feb 2020. It is a truly beautiful thing - inside and out and I like the interior as much as I like the interior of my 2019 Panamera. A neighbor commented that the interior was the nicest interior he had ever seen. Interestingly some neighbor friends asked to look inside the car which surprised me considering most people here have nicer cars in this area. That said, I am in a suburb of Detroit so a very large amount of people feel obligated to purchase American branded vehicles. Most folks around here are also surprised to learn the GLS is produced in AL!
I had not test driven the vehicle before buying it and so far the driving experience meets my expectations - which were pretty high. After some more miles in it, I would not be surprised if my expectations are exceeded. Lowering the suspension makes such a huge difference in ride feel and the flatness in cornering is incredible for such a large vehicle.
The seats are very comfortable and the massage feature is pretty neat - the massage machinery gives you the feeling that is industrial strength and won't break. With that said, I wish it could "get into" your back even harder. Part of the problem might be my weight - I am 160 lbs and pretty slim build so it might be designed for folks a little larger than I am.
The automatic driving features seem at least incrementally better than my Panamera which I consider to be very good. More time and experience will tell - they may end up being a lot better than the Panny. If anyone is interested I can update you in a couple of months after I have more experience.
Wife kept telling me I was nuts for ordering this vehicle and then waiting so long for it. It's her car and she had literally nothing to do with the purchase - I took over and said "trust me." She now feels the car was worth the wait. As to the money part, I figured if we kept the car ~8 years the total cost of ownership is on par with the Navigator we were leasing.
Now that we have the car in our possession, it seems like something we will truly enjoy and appreciate 8 years later. Fingers crossed for that!

I placed order for 580 on Feb. 1st and just found out the built date is Jan 2021 with delivery in Feb.
This will be 2021 model. The price is unknown
Getting tired of waiting, may decide to buy any 580 from the dealer if it is available.

Finally got an email from my dealer and said it should be here in March.
Does anyone know if these rear shades I have listed are powered or not?
Not exactly sure what this means, but it was in the email.
I was able to dtec a 2/D2 GLS slot; this accepted everything including the Ceramic Braking System.

It depends on when it goes into production in that decade but it is usually a quick turn around. I've had some issues that are atypical in my 63 but if yours is normal, then I think that is reasonable. I've heard of sometimes cars hanging around the factory and some ship in a few days. Really no rhyme or reason for it as far as I can tell.

I got word from my dealer yesterday that my 2021 GLS450 is in B8 (Assigned to Ship) status and should be D5 (Released to Carrier) soon. Keeping my fingers crossed for no delays!!

Nice, glad to hear yours made it out. I’m still stuck with no end in sight. Supposedly finished production but with technical issues. Hoping I get it before the end of the month. Looking like a total of 2 months delayed from expected production if I do end up getting it this month. Sadly less than ideal communication from MB.

It seems as though there are too many of these production issues. I'm hoping mine will actually be what I ordered. Supposedly released to carrier a couple of days ago but still no ETA on delivery. I hope your 2nd build comes out right this time.
