2021 GLS Factory Build Schedule
A couple of weeks ago I order a new 2021 GLS450W4 with all of the bells and whistles. My dealer here in North Carolina is estimating a mid-November delivery. There is very limited information online about manufacturing schedules in Alabama. I did find that after they started back up after the COVID shutdown, they had to halt production again in mid-May due to delayed parts from Mexico. All I have at this point is the Purchase Order with the build details.
Any thoughts or insight on when our new GLS will be delivered...? Have they started 2021 builds yet...?

I have the same question for a 580. No date. I had July before they decided to shut down 20's and supply issues happened.
I recently saw 'inventory' on the MB USA site for 580's, but now that has dropped off too (I'm assuming those were all ordered anyway, but it was a sign of progress).
I can't tell what's happening except that I still haven't got a date and wasn't asked to resign the '21 order (I know some options changed too).

Sometimes people who order later end up getting it first. I think the options you choose have a lot to do with it. But this is the second year of production so maybe that won't matter anymore. And some dealers might get priority over others too. No one really knows.

2020 GLS 580
Ordered a 580 in October 2019. First time they built the wrong car (still no good answer as to how that happened). Then rescheduled for a May build slot that pushed to July with COVID. Then told they cut off the end of the delayed 2020 580's and converted them to 2021's. Recently told my second decade August build 2021 was pushed to September 4th build date with deliver in late September/early October. Fingers crossed. Hope this helps.

Talking with my dealer the past few days as I plan to order a 2021 450. They said earliest builds are Oct for Nov delivery. They have some on order, but no longer changeable. They said Nov builds are still changeable but they don’t have any slots open. Best they could do was Dec build for me. They believe all of that info is still current and reliable, but they said of course things can change.

I've been checking the builds just to see if '21 is up yet (not) and then check the inventory for fun (GLS 580) and I was seeing new inventory (probably already sold) showing up so I'm hoping that mean that production is starting to flow. Even if there's a shutdown for '20 to '21, based on orders planned, sounds like that is minimal. Fingers crossed that my 580 is scheduled soon! Good things come to those that wait???

I started looking at local inventories and found several 2021 AMG GLS 63 SUV in the area. However, no 2021 GLS 450s or 580s. I may go by and check out the AMG tomorrow.
UPDATE: I checked with my local dealer today. On the MB website, it shows they have four (4) 2021 AMG GLS 63's in stock, but I called and they said they don't have any as of yet....

According to the order guide there are only 3 choices for interior all of them Nappa Leather. The exterior colors are also the same as the standard model. No sign of two-tone. Extremely disappointing if this is accurate.

We are close to ordering our 450. The dealer gave us an estimated delivery range of early December. I was surprised since I was pretty much expecting things would be pushed out to next year, but I guess we'll see what happens. Another dealer in the area told me they weren't taking orders at all, and that the Alabama factory was operating at 30-50% capacity.

Actually - factory is running about 20% capacity - a dealer knows now how many GLS450/GLS580's he is scheduled to have built between now and the end of the year.
We don't know "yet" about roll-out and/or slippage until we see how Sept production change over goes..
The 2021 production is based on reduced factory capacity - Supply Chain issues are still rampant ..

I just heard first 10 days of December for my almost loaded 580. Hopefully production stays smooth, but I'm not putting money on it.
