GCM Gross Combine Mass
Can someone please tell me what the GCM Gross Combine Mass is on a GLS 450 please.
I am wanting to work out what size Caravan I can tow.
GCM = Gross Combine Mass
GVM = Gross Vehicle Mass
GCM of ? kg – GVM of 3300kg = ? kg towing capacity
Thank you guys, going nuts trying to find this info

Gross Combined Weight (or mass) is the maximum allowable mass of the vehicle+contents and towed equipment such as a caravan+contents.
Gross Vehicle Weight (or mass) is the maximum allowable mass of the vehicle+contents.
These figures are established for safety reasons:
- stopping distance and avoidance of brake system overheat or failure
- steering stability
- suspension integrity and ability to control the wheels
- transmission and axle(s) longevity and avoidance of overheating
- cooling system performance and avoidance of overheating
- body structure failure (extreme case) and longevity in the case of fatigue cracks to critical components such as bumpers and crash energy absorbing structures
Do not exceed the manufacturer’s ratings in these categories. For your sake and for the sake of others.

Thanks for all this, I appreciate it.
Where do I find what the Gross Vehicle Weight (or mass). I have looked in the manual, even rang my dealer. No one can tell me.
Thanks

Thanks for the input here.
What I am concerned about is what is written in this article.
These are the numbers I have
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVM ) = 3300kg
Curb Weight = 2450kg
Payload = 850kg
What I can not find out is the GCM = Gross Combine Mass
Please see below.
The caravan plus all of its contents (luggage, dishes, drinking water, television, everything) must not exceed 3500kg. Towing capacity is only permissible when the caravan is braked (for example with an electric brake system).
Gross vehicle weight is available for your viewing on the B-pillar. Go to a dealer and check this, if you have not yet taken delivery of your vehicle. The gross vehicle weight on the B-pillar, plus the towing capacity of 3500kg (US market example) gives you the gross combination weight. Take note that the gross vehicle weight must account for trailer tongue weight. So:
Gross vehicle weight
- tongue weight
- curb weight
= payload inside the vehicle (passengers and luggage)
