My only gripe about that is the maximum number of phones we can link is two.

It is actually a terrible product. I have used it. It makes it so you cannot access other parts of the regular display features. It blows my mind that automobiles are so far behind in tech in 2021. Hell, usb chargers still don't do anything and you have to have to use cigarette lighter to charge no matter how luxurious the vehicle is. It is laughable.
Several 2022 models now include Wireless CarPlay (S Class, EQS, maybe others?) We have it on our 2019 BMW X7 and would never want to be without it again. Agree with the many comments that MB should have been fully supporting Wireless CarPlay several years ago. BMW is way ahead of the other manufactures with Apple iPhone integration. In fact, BMW's iX and i4 (coming soon to the US) supports Digital Key Plus which allows the iPhone to unlock the car while your iPhone is in your pocket or purse, no need to take your FOB along for the ride. I assume these features will come to MB eventually but they're slow at times to adopt new tech.
we have the wireless capability in our new BMW 2022 X7 and the Carplay interface is absolutely beautiful. the screen is also HUGE and every square inch is utilized by Carplay. i believe in the GLS its just a small rectangle of Carplay with unused black borders on left and right? i don't think it fills the factory display. super annoying.

I was told the MY21 X167 will NOT support wireless CarPlay.
on my '20 X167, I'm using Carplay2Air for that.
I just got my '21 AMG GTC4, that one now has updated MBUX, and it still does not support wireless CarPlay.
the only vehicle in entire MB line up that supports the wireless CarPlay natively is W223, I think.

my 2021 Sprinter had wireless CarPlay. The dealer said that it did not, but it started right up. Once in a while it would disconnect and then not reconnect. Today I factory reset the radio to fix a issue with the audio and now it is usb CarPlay only.
