GLS63 Build Delays?

I was originally scheduled for a 2nd decade Oct build date and assumed was in process and was checking on delivery date. JUST today, the system has an estimated build date of Nov 17th. Anybody know if there are production issues? I think 3-5 GLS63's have come and gone in the last month thru the dealership but not custom builds (mine's the first).

Mine was supposed to be 09/03 production but confirmed for 10/25. Status showing B4 now so should have an update in a day or so. There were some production delays which bumped my GLS 63 for about a month.

Our 63 was slated 3rd decade of October. Then we received a date of 10/30.
With your post, I checked.
Finished the build today and released to transport.
So your delay must be because of a particular option.

I was told maybe January, because of carbon ceramic brakes.

I didn't go with the ceramic brakes... I can't/won't track the SUV so, didn't see any need except for the brake dust ... didn't go with carbon engine cover either but I think I checked most every other box.

This is my color scheme:

I did virtually all options except carbon fiber, ceramic and rear executive. Heard it could be interior trim choices. Went with the grey oak and diamond stitched black seats. Still waiting to hear that it’s ready to ship. Should have completed late yesterday or early today.

Wait. CCBs aren’t listed in the DOG, so you must have seen them in NetStar and ticked that box. What other options are available in NetStar, but not listed in the DOG?

Well mine is now stuck in B4 and dealer doesn’t know why. Lovely. I don’t remember how many options were different from the DOG but other than CCB I don’t think there were other major options that were on it.

what interior options did you have out of curiosity. I’m being told there are seat part issues with my vehicle and I had the black diamond seating.

interesting we have almost the same set up including the seats and trim, good choice BTW. The only differences are ext color ( I did emerald green) and I did the upgraded Burmester system. Seems like I’m getting a BS answer for the delay but who knows. Glad you’ve at least got yours in. Let us see it when you pick it up. I’m sure you’re excited.

If I remember, only the CCB's weren't on the Order Guide. I did go with the Executive Plus rear though.... heated 3rd row and 2nd row power sunshades... etc etc. I wasn't able to get the hand gesture assistant with the MBUX since the upgraded Bermester stereo deletes that option.

Back in 2013 there was a delay for sun roofs. They ended up pulling them off the other build lines and allocating them to the AMG63's. Back then only 80 or so a year were being built because of CAFE laws. Gas mileage is considerably better now so the GLS63's are being produced in larger numbers. Already 5 have gone thru the dealer but mine is the first customer order. The five were pretty bare bones base configurations. Some arrived on trucks and the dealer never knew they were getting them. My current is a bit long in the tooth with 80k miles so, looking forward to the new ride. Renntech still hasn't seen any new GLS63's so no news on their upgrade(s) but once avaialbe, I'll be up there to get mine! .... I'm basing and assuming the 4.0 twin turbo's on the GTS and others will be about the same output.

Finally made it to B5. Don’t know exactly what the issue was but don’t really care at this point. Looking forward to getting it at the dealer soon.

Welcome to my world friend. My experience: Initial prod D3/sept, updated build 10/25 confirmed production, completed 11/2, released to VPC 11/4 and has been frozen at D1 ever since. MB is having some major screw ups going on and I’ve started raising hell about it but it didn’t help. From what I was told, initially a parts delay then had a system software update that took a couple days that froze the production. Beyond that I have no idea why my GLS is sitting at the VPC for 2 weeks so I assume there are major issues on the build side as well as transport side. I’m hoping we get them before everything locks down again (if it does).

B4 is supposed to mean 2 days to completion but it doesn’t mean anything right now.

A gaggle of MB's
I continue to be amazed by the ongoing and continue lack of mutual understanding between Owner's who have MB's on order - and their Dealer ..

There is just so much of this - the FAULT MUST LIE OB BOTH SIDES..

On this case the Dealer told the Customer the VPC Delay is a Software Update .. each update takes 2 1/2hr (with hardwire connection to the diagnostic)... and frankly it is going to take time/time/time - "kindof" on a First-Held-Back gets First-Updated "supposedly".

I respectfully disagree. I don’t think I have a lack of understanding of the situation. I kept my previous post brief but I have had significant issues with communication from the dealer. We had discussed timeframe and even with the current situation they anticipated it being delivered from the confirmed build date of 10/25 in a max of 2wks. You are right though about the software as they said it took like 3-4 days that I already didn’t believe. Also the seat issue was odd as someone I know had their 63 go into production after mine with same interior specs and trim and theirs is already delivered. I’m not sure what it is that they don’t want to tell me but I’m honestly curious if I’m getting my car this year. I figure there either is a crazy bad supply chain issue given we’re sitting at 18 days at the VPC or there is something else wrong with my build (maybe lemonish) causing quality issues. Who knows but given the holidays, I’m definitely not seeing it until Dec.

You and I shared the same production date. Mine is a GLS450. I spoke with the dealer yesterday (MBoWS) and it is still at the VPC as well.

sadly no. Mine has been at the VPC for 4 weeks now. No explanation. I don’t know if I’m getting my car this year really. It’s confusing why it is taking so long since it is completed. It’s very frustrating.

Movement yesterday! "D40 VPC ready" after a week .... next step is "Released to carrier"...... often cars show up at south Florida dealers before that update gets updated. There's hope!
