Deal Check
Hello All,
Taking the plunge and buying my first Benz. I’ve never had to negotiate for a vehicle in the past because my cousin works for Toyota and he has always taken good care of us.
After emailing a few dealers, I’ve been offered 5% off MSRP on a custom built GLS 450. I also have an offer for the 7/100 warranty for $4,200. I plan to pay cash.
Just wanted a little feedback to make sure I’m not overpaying!
Thanks in advance!

Why pay cash? You can get <3% financing on a 72 month bank loan. Use the cash to buy AAPL and you’ll be way ahead.

But yes, 5% off is a good deal on the GLS 450 given that it is in high demand. I got 8% off my GLS 63 from a small-town dealer that mostly sells GLC/C Class.

I got 6% all-in, but if I broke it down, it was more like 5% plus a $500 discount my employer automatically qualified me for to push to around 6%. So I think you’re getting a fair deal here as well.
Buy the extended warranty afterwards from another dealership (look around this forum for names). You can save a good bit that way for the same warranty.
I tried for the special employee discount called DD1, which is 12%, but the GLS isn’t part of that program with MB in general. Probably needs a couple of years in market before that would happen.

Hello All,
In case you were interested, I ended up getting a couple of offers at 7.5% off. Not sure if I could have done better, but I was happy with the guy I was working with and pulled the trigger.
I contacted Jeff about the warranty and $4,200 was his offer, so that may have been the best I could do there.
As far as financing, I am truly allergic to monthly payments, but I think you’re right, it makes sense to finance and invest the cash.
Thank you everyone for your input!
