Extra Keys

Did any of you order extra key fobs in addition to the 2 that come with the car? It's been a long time since I've bought a new car, and I would always have an extra set made. Just wondering if you all went through the dealership and if its worth the cost.

Have to go through the dealer. You will need a photo id and proof of ownership. Key may need to be programmed by the dealer after you get it.

Thanks for your responses. So I have to ask because I keep going back and forth on whether I should order a 3rd key fob. I'm due to pick up my BTO this week. My husband and I will each keep a set and I was just going to have a 3rd to put away and not have to deal with it in the future if we lose one. Its over $800 with programming and with how much we're paying in total its not going to make a huge difference, and just order it now while we're already in there taking care of all of this administrative stuff. I couldn't really find a lot of info on pricing. Curious if any of you all got a 3rd set made and if this is the standard price. Thanks in advance.

Prices vary, all expensive. Two years ago I paid approx $350 for a W166 key at the local dealer in a small-medium size Midwest city. Now the keys are probably more expensive, but shop around. Any dealer can order and program a key for you.

What are the odds that you both lose your key at the same time.

If one of you loses your key I think they would want you to reprogram the other one anyway. So buying an extra one ahead of time won't help.
