Dash Indicator light questions

There are 2 indicator lights which I have no clue what they mean. On the bottom of the drivers display there is a green rectangle that says READY (I think) ready what? The second is a Green circle with a car icon in the center just below the digital speed indicator that lights up as I'm coming to a stop. Inquiring minds want to know!

GLS 580 in the snow vs GLS 550

The 550 used a permanent 50:50 front to rear torque distribution. The new model has a fully variable front to rear split. The change in snow capability has been nothing short of extraordinary. The new system handles snow as if by magic, it essentially banishes wheel slippage under any conditions without having to resort to the traction control system, where ever you point it just goes without a fuss. The new suspension also banishes the feeling of handling "squirm" that was so obvious when you put snow tires on the 550 though this might be that now I'm using 21 inch rather 19 rims.
I've owned numerous vehicles, AWD, 4WD, FWD, SHAWD in the my 25 years in the snowbelt, the 580 is by far the best snow performing one by a significant margin. GOOD JOB MERCEDES!
